The task of finding a new therapist to walk with you in your journey toward growth, hope, and healing can be so difficult! My style is relational and dynamic, meaning that I hold the past and present together as we work through your story to examine places you feel stuck or want to make changes. Your safety in the therapeutic relationship is important in order to facilitate the exploration of what can be painful thoughts, feelings, and memories. I integrate evidence-based techniques, cultural humility, and a nonjudgemental perspective to help you find your strengths and meet your life goals.

I work with you to identify the impact of difficult life experiences while also helping you to find your power to create the change you desire. Frequently addressed topics include relationships, grief and loss, chronic stress, trauma, discrimination, depression, anxiety, sexuality, gender, school and/or work problems, addictions, and court-involvement.

I enjoy working with people diverse in culture, ethnicity, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, spirituality, and social capital. I believe that systems (e.g., racism, sexism, classism) can cause trauma, and that therapy can help us move out of internalized shame and pain brought on by socialization into these systems.

There are so many incredible self-help books on the shelves, and it can be really hard to work through them alone. In this group, we work through one book at a time to process and learn together. I provide both psychoeducational and therapeutic support as we work through the content and exercises to support your healing. This group has a process component, but is predominantly content focused. Our current book selection is Break the Cycle: A Guide to Healing Intergenerational Trauma by Dr. Mariel Buqué.

Purity Culture Recovery Group

Did you know that some people who grew up in purity culture have symptoms that are similar to people who experienced childhood sexual abuse? The impact of a sexually shaming culture can be subtle, but leave deep wounds. This group focuses on the process of leaving purity culture in order to reclaim our bodies and heal from sexual shame and trauma. We are open to people from all genders and religious backgrounds. You may reside in Illinois, New York, or any PsyPact state. This will be a process focused, virtual group that runs for for approximately 10 weeks.
