Coming from a blended family that is White, Black, Latinx, and Jewish, Emma is also passionate about helping individuals and families navigate identify dynamics in nontraditional family systems.

And then there's the relationship to your problems: things like depression, anxiety, ADHD, post-partum and parenting stress, body-image problems. I provide therapy for individuals & teens dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I help to identify negative narratives, defensive mechanisms, and the inner critic. I work in tandem with couples experiencing disconnect, communication issues, and the aftermath of affairs. I can't imagine getting much out only hearing “uh-huh" or the overly used, “how does that make you feel?”. Therapy can be a conversation rather than a monologue. Occasional use of humor and swearing can help you lower stress and defenses when stuck in fear, uncertainty, or judgement. I don’t believe in a sterile language environment. I invite you to swear if it helps you express how difficult, unfair, scary, or delightful a situation is. I find this uncensored atmosphere leads to an honest therapeutic relationship. If you struggle with anxiety, depression, or life stressors, you may find these techniques useful and validating.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist emphasizing holistic healing with communities of color and people overall. Using mindfulness in helping the whole person, I am client centered focusing on the somatic traumas that our bodies absorb. I have received extensive training in DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and continue to utilize these models in my work today.
