I have experience working with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, CPTSD, anger, panic attacks, psychosis, agoraphobia, mood disorders, and substance dependence.
Therapy is beneficial in that it creates a unique space for your emotional support, safety, and growth. This work is helpful for people who want to relieve suffering by bringing awareness to how our external contexts and internal perspectives create our experience. Addressing both emotional difficulties with empathic curiosity and environmental circumstances with creative solutions is essential to establishing a fulfilling and joyful life.

I use self-compassion training to dismantle the judgment, shame and self-blame that drive depression, anxiety and psychosis.
Healing from trauma, reclaiming power, growing from struggle and learning to work WITH emotions rather than AGAINST them are the goals I strive to support my clients in achieving. I want to help my clients move beyond simply not feeling so depressed, anxious, angry or manic. I want to help them transcend their pain, feel like they are fulfilling their purpose in life, are able to truly love themselves and are cultivating relationships that feed their soul. Narrative Therapy teaches my clients to transform the meaning of what they have been through and techniques from Existential Therapy help clients create or discover their purpose.

Trauma, anxiety, and addiction can make you feel stuck. The most important step towards healing is to address the unresolved emotion inside you. Healing requires feelings. Acceptance slowly dissolves pain. When we function from the fear and scarring of our trauma, the cycles continue until we learn how to transmute that energy into love. I apply a Holistic approach that integrates physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual forms of well-being, addressing the “whole” self. Through a holistic framework tailored to your unique needs, the goal is to support you develop a deeper understanding of the self on all these levels.

As a therapist, I call upon a variety of practices to nurture each individual’s or couple’s personal process. With a background in movement, music, art and drama, I approach therapy as a creative pursuit rooted in clinical analysis. I have a trauma-informed approach, allowing space for the many layers of stress that our culture can bring about in an individual or within a couple. I draw on traditional psychodynamic, Gestalt, Emotionally Focused Couples therapy, and relational methodologies, while incorporating eastern philosophies, symbolism, somatics, and creative or spiritual practices.

Being human can be difficult. It comes with highs and lows, sometimes those highs and lows are frequently alternating, and sometimes they are not alternating enough. We all feel stuck at times, like things need to change, that things are out of control and moving too quickly, and we are exhausted from too much change, or maybe even someone dared to tell us we need to change. I am passionate about journeying with adolescents, adults, and families to discover helpful insights to live with a bit more ease, to stay more present, to increase your awareness about your humanness, or simply validate that being human can be difficult.

I believe in the healing power of connection and community. The decision to engage in mental health services is a radical act of self-care and hope for a better future. When we work towards understanding and healing ourselves, we also lay the foundation for understanding and healing our relationships and communities. My primary goal as a therapist is to meet you where you are and utilize my skill set to collaboratively work towards achieving your goals. Think of me as your emotional and psychological guide helping you discover, map, and interpret your inner landscape to better understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

I am not a typical therapist. I see myself as a co-author, witness, helpful ally, teammate, collaborator and useful resource. Rather than taking a role as an “expert” by making assumptions or interpretations about your life, I love to use skillful conversation and artful question-asking to help you get past obstacles and problems. You are here on this page because you have strength in you, you have desire in you and you have healing in you. You are the main character in your own life. Therapy can either help or hinder the development of this character as someone powerful, capable and whole.

Our life experiences can lead us to question our identity and purpose in the world we live in. This can lead us to anxiety, depression, and trauma. Do you want to improve how you face challenges, function in your relationships, and face overwhelming feelings? I place heavy importance on addressing trauma. Trauma disintegrates the parts that make up your whole self, which can leave aspects of who you are hidden from your awareness. Left unaddressed, anxiety and depression can worsen, which can rob you of the necessary connection that all human beings need to thrive. I aim to help you process unresolved trauma.

Life can feel impossible to avoid struggling and we often don't feel we have the skills to cope successfully through. Unfortunately, sometimes we don't have all the resources we need for a given situation. Parts of us take on desperate roles trying to help us to survive. This might look like anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, and relationship/family issues. I aim to help you process unresolved issues and feelings and find solutions.

Psychosis Therapists

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?

The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?

People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?

Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?

It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
