Petunia Monchusie, Ph.D., LCAC, LCPC is a Mental Health Professional with a doctors degree focusing on Exercise Psychology and Substance Abuse. She specializes in Substance Abuse and Behavioral Addictions, and Cooccurring disorders. She is also the founder of Healthy Recovery Options- a State Licensed Substance Abuse Outpatient Treatment Facility-which provides Drug and Alcohol Evaluations, DUI classes, Domestic Violence Evaluations, Batterers Intervention Program, all Other Assessments, and Individual, Couples, and Group Psychotherapy. Her international work experiences help her to work with a cultural diverse population 18 years and older.

With over 11 years as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Guelker has experience with a variety of presenting concerns including mood (depression, anger, etc.), anxiety, trauma/PTSD, personality disorders, severe psychopathology, relationship/family concerns, parenting issues, academic problems, military issues, men’s issues, and general transitional/adjustment stress. Dr. Guelker additionally provides psychological assessments for both clinical and forensic purposes. Dr. Guelker's effort is to assist his patients in meeting their own needs for treatment through understanding, goal setting, and intervention.

I utilize an integrative approach to therapy. My primary treatment approach is client centered therapy which allow me to follow my clients lead in session. This approach also assists clients with self-actualization and growth. One of the most important primary needs of individuals is to have secure emotional attachments. Therefore, I utilize a systems approach and attachment processes in my work with couples and families. I have a special interest in working with veterans and active duty military couples and families.

I believe that good therapy is not merely reducing symptoms but helping you experience the “zest” of life. In other words, the main goal of therapy should be to help people thrive not just survive. Whether dealing with individuals, couples, families or groups, I integrate clinically effective treatment with a respectful, compassionate relational style.
