I have been a practicing clinical psychologist since 1979. I can personally attest to how much I have improved as a therapist with that thirty years of experience. I have learned how important it is to help an individual find their own solutions to their unique problems. I do this in a context of cognitive behavioral therapy, as this approach has been proven to be as effective in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders as medication.

Parenting is a challenging endeavor in the most ideal of circumstances, but parenting children with learning problems, disruptive behaviors, social skills deficits, or emotional disturbance can tax even the most well-informed parent. There are many effective ways to parent children and my goal is to provide evaluation and treatment approaches that allow you to parent your child based on your own values while using the most healthy and effective strategies. For those children already in treatment, I can collaborate with the child's therapist and/or physician to provide evaluations that help to clarify diagnosis and treatment needs.

Behavior change is applicable to everyone, not just those with psychological distress. I specialize in behavior change and communication. I offer direct, compassionate feedback, problem solving, and a fair evaluation of the circumstances.

I want to start by saying that I truly hold a solid belief that each and every human deserves to feel happiness, love, excitement, contentment, and ultimately to achieve their dreams, desires, goals, and best-selves! I implement an integrative approach, with a craving to help. Whether that assistance be with a child struggling with ADHD, an individual learning to cope with anxiety/depression, a couple struggling, or an entire family in need, I am devoted to seeking out and destroying the obstacles, strongholds, cognitive distortions, or whatever the “problem” is that is impeding their ability to live happy, healthy, fulfilled lives.

As a therapist, my goal is to come alongside each individual, couple or family during times of challenge to help them find hope, direction and healing. There are times in everyone's life when we need to talk to someone outside of our situation. When life get rough, difficult, or confusing no one has to face it alone. I work with clients to aid them in reaching their specific personal goals or just being an objective ear to listen to them and try to provide a different perspective. I provide treatment for a wide variety of individual mental health diagnoses in teens and adults ranging from major depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, anger management, partner relational problems, and psychotic disorders. I have also taught process and skills development groups in: communication, anger management, stress management, relationship skills, recovery, DBT, and relapse prevention.

My ideal client is one who commits to therapy and is willing to allow me to help them learn how to face their issues and resolve them. I believe in honesty, even if it means telling someone things difficult to hear. We must have honesty in order for me to help them help themselves.
