Are you wondering if it’s time to reach out for support? Whether it's an unexpected turn of events, a tough situation that's become impossible to overlook, or a desire to break old patterns and enhance your relationships, you're not alone. Lately, you've been grappling with increasing unhappiness, frustration, and dissatisfaction. You're stuck in a cycle of stress and worry, and it's impacting your mood, appetite, and sleep. You're tired of being stuck in this "messy middle" - a tough place between where you were and where you want to be. Therapy might just be the step you need to find your way back to yourself.

As there are many therapists to choose from, your task in finding a therapist can be challenging for various reasons. I hope by reading more about me, you will have a better sense of how I may be able to help you. I believe that successful therapy depends upon your sense of comfort and emotional safety, as well as the connection we establish in the therapeutic relationship.

I draw from psychodynamic and attachment theories, interpersonal, humanistic and existential schools, as well as neurobiology.
We are convinced we have a problem. We're focused on it, worried about it, and it often feels like it defines us. These problems tend to show up or worsen during life and relationship transitions. Attending to what isn't working, as well as being intentional about addressing these problems, is necessary for change. Easily overlooked though, are the jewels - the opportunities hiding behind those problems. Psychotherapy provides a safe space for growth opportunities - offering compassion to those parts of ourselves we don't like or shame us, while allowing for the fluidity, flexibility and movement required for transformations.

I utilize multiple theoretical frameworks in the counseling environment, such as cognitive, existentialism and psychodynamic, in order to best match each client's need.
Life can be difficult and at times leave wounds, but with some work we can be restored. I am an interactive therapist who feels privileged to walk alongside of my clients through various life situations. I see counseling as a relationship where you set aside time to evaluate where you are in life and where you want to be. As the counselor, I see my job as helping you to problem solve difficult areas of your life and facilitate self investigation into your past and current behaviors and thoughts with the end goal of bringing you greater fulfillment.

I practice through an integrative and relational psychodynamic lens, which means we work together to explore your past experiences, relationships, and behavioral patterns to better understand their impact on your present self, thoughts, and connections with others, ultimately promoting a more fulfilling and positive life.
If you find yourself seeking therapy, it could be due to changes in your daily life that are causing disruption or dissatisfaction. It may be a new stressor, unresolved difficulties from your past, or a desire to gain a deeper understanding of yourself. Engaging in therapy can be a healing and transformative process, paving the way to gain satisfaction in your life. Guided by compassion and trust, I take a collaborative and multicultural approach to create a safe space for this exploration.

It involves an approach integrating relational therapy, trauma based therapy, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness.
I believe that life is a process of becoming. With the passing of time, we all change and so our needs and wants within ourselves and within our relationships also change. Are you eager for positive change that improves your relationships with others and allows for new understanding and compassion for yourself? Increased awareness and clarity of unconscious patterns can provide opportunities to heal old wounds and create new paths and shifts towards fulfillment. I encourage prospective clients to give me a call or email to ask questions that might help you determine if my approach is a good fit for your current needs.

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic principles to better understand how your past shapes how you experience the present.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, sad, worried, stressed out, or stuck? Are you struggling with life’s challenges or your relationships? I believe that therapy in a safe, accepting, and compassionate space allows for the self-understanding necessary for growth and healing. I work with adults and young adults (18+) to explore feelings and gain a better self-understanding, specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, race and multicultural issues, and grief and loss. I believe that therapy is most helpful in a nonjudgmental and empathic setting where you can feel comfortable as you explore your thoughts and feelings.

I use an integrative approach, however, the theories I’m more influenced by and trained in are psychodynamic therapy; addresses underlying causes, and somatic therapy, which includes calming the nervous system, and developing, and deepening your relationship with your body.
As a therapist I support client’s growth and unfolding, connection to self, and empowerment. I specialize in working with clients dealing with a history of complex trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship and intimacy issues, a search for more meaning, and I have an interest in facilitating a more loving relationship within self and between people in relationship. I see clients for both short-term therapy and long-term therapy depending on what clients goals are and see clients anywhere from once per week to several times per week.

My early experience and training as a counselor was in a private group practice where I was supervised by psychologists in psychodynamic growth-oriented therapy.
I work with individuals and couples and specialize in treating depression, anxiety, loss and grief, life transition, and relationship difficulties. My counseling style is strongly relational with an emphasis on your individual healing, growth, and personal development. My goal is to provide a caring and safe environment where you can feel connected, speak honestly, and discover ways to solve problems as well as bring about emotional freedom and psychological growth. I believe that most of our difficulties come abount in the context of personal relationships and that psychotherapy is a way to learn new positive ways of relating. I

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
