I am passionate about helping individuals and families reach their unique, personal goals. I believe a client grows best when there is a positive therapeutic relationship built in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. Those who want to build interpersonal insight, increase self-awareness, and are willing to implement new skills will benefit most from therapy. The ability to visualize their desired outcome is an important part of the therapeutic journey for clients and is key in the redevelopment of their personal identity.

If you are someone struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, chronic health issues, addiction, trauma (shock, complex and/or attachment trauma), and/or having a hard time living life to its fullest, and you want a safe place to learn, grow and heal, I might be able to help. Sometimes talk therapy alone is enough to resolve whatever ails you, but when there is chronic stress or trauma that has persisted in the mind/body for a prolonged period, therapies that take a "bottom up" approach can have more of a lasting impact.

Therapy is often sought when there is a discrepancy between where you see yourself currently in life and where you would like to be. I will work collaboratively with you to develop a unique treatment plan that will help close this gap and create balance and wellness in your life. I strive to provide a safe and supportive environment in which clients can explore challenges and struggles and begin to make positive changes. A strong therapeutic relationship, I believe, helps individuals recognize the unique strengths they possess and take an active role in the transformation process.

I am a therapist driven by a passion for helping others navigate life's challenges and discover their inner strength and resiliency. Life can be difficult. Sometimes these difficulties can start to weigh heavy and limit our abilities to see clearly, make decisions, and manage our daily life. It becomes clear that something needs to change, but finding the right place to start can be a challenge. I am here to help you untangle the mess and work toward healing and self-discovery. I aim to foster self-acceptance and personal growth and create an environment free from judgment where you can safely explore your emotions and experiences.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
