I integrate relational and psychodynamic approaches, along with other therapeutic modalities.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas and Colorado. I specialize in treating eating disorders, disordered eating, and challenges with body image. I also work with those struggling with anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I provide an environment in which clients feel safe and empowered to embark on their therapeutic journey. I believe it is important to start where the client is to facilitate lasting change. Therapy is a process to explore underlying meaning, behavioral patterns, and relationship dynamics in order to identify your most authentic and genuine self.

I tailor treatment to the client using a combination of Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and Solution-Focused, Mindfulness, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
Do you wish that someone would listen to, understand, and see the real you? My priority is to create a safe space where you feel heard, valued, and encouraged to proceed at your own pace as we explore how past and present experiences may affect how you think, behave, and feel. In our work together, I will act as a guide walking alongside you on your journey of personal growth. I will help you identify and use your strengths to build resilience, work with you to clarify your goals, teach you skills, help you navigate difficult emotions, and consistently provide support and encouragement.

Combining psychodynamic and narrative therapies, and an emphasis on commitment, we will collaborate on a plan and find out what works for you.
I spent years struggling alone; feeling like it was all up to me. I had gotten myself into this situation and I was going to get myself out of it. But I was wrong. I finally made the choice to reach out and try something different; to ask for help.

I practice primarily from a psychodynamic orientation, meaning I believe we can better understand our present issues through exploring our past.
Life can be full of challenges and setbacks. At times, it can feel very overwhelming and make it hard to cope. However, we do not have to go through them alone. If you find yourself feeling stuck, unmotivated, and discontent with life in general, it may be time to begin therapy. I specialize in treating issues involving self-esteem, relationship conflict, emotion regulation, body dysmorphia, and sports performance.

I take pride in my ability to relate to a large population, and I enjoy working with clients 12 years of age and up. My clients over the years have had: depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment difficulty, as well as teenagers with a variety of school, peer, family, and self-esteem issues. I work best with clients who are motivated for change, but also understand that teenagers often come to therapy at the urging of parents and may be resistant at first. I welcome women's issues, veteran's issues, LGBTQ issues, those who are just "stuck", going through a life transition or folks who have been in and out of therapy for years.

In a blink of an eye, you're now a parent of a tween/teen(s). Your child has become w/drawn, negative, loss of interest & enjoyment of activities they once enjoyed. There's a change in their sleep, eating habits, doing poorly in school, isolating from friends and family, showing risky or harmful behaviors, even possible suicide thoughts. Your child shares with you that they feel depressed, anxious and don’t want to go to school. You try asking them what’s wrong, just to be yelled, “nothing, you wouldn’t even understand. You turn to your partner for support just to find yourself feeling angry, emotionally overwhelmed, invalidated.

Life can be incredibly challenging, and I understand the hardships that come with it. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by stress, battled anxiety and depression, or felt like an outsider in social situations, you're not alone. I'm here to provide support and understanding, especially if you identify as a member of the Neurodiverse/neurospicy community, align with the LGBTQIA+ community, consider yourself a highly sensitive person (HSP), or simply find solace in parties spent hanging out with the furbabies, I can relate!

After working in a large group practice in Houston, TX for 7 years, I accepted a faculty position in the Graduate Counseling Program at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX. I am the training clinic director at UMHB, but I did not want to completely abandon clinical practice. I see a small number of clients part-time in the Temple/Belton area. My job is to provide hope, improve relationships, and increase perceived options for my clients. I provide a safe but productive environment to express frustrations and begin building solutions to the struggles of life.

Imagine a heavy burden dropping off of your shoulders and moving forward in freedom. I utilize powerful, trauma-based therapies with clients such as Flash Technique and E.M.D.R. Flash technique can dramatically reduce disturbance connected to trauma or stress. It is a less intrusive way to deal with intrusive memories while focused on a positive engaging focus. I will walk with you through this journey with guidance, compassion, and a neutral stance while you discover how to restore peace. I also utilize E.M.D.R. with clients who desire that powerful treatment modality.

Feeling safe on our own and feeling connected with others is the key to both our happiness and success; it can also be one of the most challenging things we do in our lives. I have spent my career working with a wide variety of individuals to support them in learning strategies to get their needs met in healthy ways. I specialize in working on attachment issues and relationship issues for both children and adults. In our time together, we would work to develop a treatment plan including setting goals and agreeing on interventions to help you to achieve those goals to live a more fulfilling and satisfying life.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
