I draw on a variety of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness techniques to best meet the unique needs of my clients.
There are times in life when our usual coping strategies and support networks are not enough and feelings such as anxiety, depression, helplessness, and inadequacy can take over. It is at these times that psychotherapy can help to successfully navigate life's challenges. I help clients to better understand how past and current experiences impact their current wellbeing, and to make positive changes that will contribute to improved feelings of competence in managing relationships, changes, and other stressors more productively. I specialize in working with individuals who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, relationships, life transitions, parenting, and loss.

I have an open and creative approach that helps in accessing emotions, one that's based in psychodynamic methodology and enables you to gain a greater self-understanding as you confront such issues as: parenting, family, postpartum, childhood development; sexuality & sexual identity; relationships & career; trauma; depression; anxiety; grief & loss.
My practice is centered around the idea that everyone has a story to tell, and that by sharing and thinking about the constitutive elements of these stories they can reach the understanding of themselves they've been looking for. The goal of therapy is to make the unconscious conscious, as Freud said, and by looking at the narrative of your life we can create a framework for understanding how the issues you face have come about, and how you can address them in order to lead a fuller, more mindful and meaningful life.

I completed post-graduate training in psychodynamic therapy from the Psychoanalytic Training Institute of the Contemporary Freudian Society.
Things are rarely as bad as they seem when you're anxious, depressed, or when you find yourself in adverse circumstances. Often, a change of perspective can dramatically improve your outlook, increase motivation, curb excessive guilt and build healthy self-regard. By examining negative feelings, behaviors and habits of thought, you can develop insights that bring relief and improve all aspects of your life--love, work and play.

Therapy can be challenging, and it can feel risky to explore truths, reflect on hard feelings, and receive support to create change. Together, we will build a collaborative therapeutic relationship to gain insight into your life, and allow difficult experiences and patterns to emerge. During sessions, we may experiment with new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating that will ultimately deepen your understanding of yourself, identify barriers to change, and increase insight about these issues. I believe that when we understand our past conflicts, we are able to make changes in our present that will My abuild to a a stronger future.

I’m a psychodynamic talk therapist.
No one likes struggling. It's hard. And even though we don't all talk about, we all do it --we struggle. It feels easier to struggle alone because it's safe. But deep down we're looking for someone to share it with. We're looking for someone to understand us, make sense of our feelings, and offer us support along the way. Hard to find, isn't it? Well, that's where I come in. Whether you're overwhelmed, alone, or struggling with a new major life transition, I can help you. Therapy can help you. Together we will figure out your feelings: what they mean, where they come from, and what you want to do with them.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Psychodynamic therapy in Downtown, Brooklyn, also known as insight-oriented therapy, evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis. Like adherents of psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapists believe that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness promotes insight and resolves conflict. But psychodynamic therapy is briefer and less intensive than psychoanalysis and also focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client, as a way to learn about how the client relates to everyone in their life.
