My training is comprehensive and includes psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and Acceptance And Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Deciding it is time to seek a therapist is a courageous act of self- love. Maybe you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed with life’s transitions or losses. Maybe you want to understand past trauma or the impact of your attachment style on your current relationships. Whatever brings you here, we will identify your goals, needs and strengths to help you deepen your self-understanding and heal. As a Traveling Therapist, my practice is currently fully remote. I also offer mentorship for those who wish to pursue the “Digital Nomad” life.

I draw from a range of theories, including: DBT, psychodynamic, solution focused, and CBT.
I believe that everyone is resilient - and that constantly having to be strong can be exhausting. Through our work together, my goal is to honor that internal strength while also providing space for grieving, healing, and growing. I am passionate about supporting people that have lived through complex trauma and have been navigating their lives in survival mode. I work to help people re-establish a sense of safety within themselves, develop an understanding into how their experiences shaped them, and cultivate meaningful relationships.

I utilize psychodynamic therapy through a feminist psychology/multicultural lens.
I am well positioned to provide exceptional services to young adults given my experience working in college mental health (ex. MIT, Tufts, Boston College), and also have great skill in working with adults of all ages. I have a clinical specialization in LGBTQ psychology and background in Women’s and Gender issues. I enjoy addressing cultural issues and identity exploration and development (ex. gender and sexuality, racial and ethnic, emerging adulthood, etc.). I am well-equipped to treat anxiety, depression, issues related to gender/sexuality, interpersonal issues, and building self-awareness and assertiveness skills.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist, who is trained in a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions such as psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and the Gottman Method for couples therapy.
Accepting new clients in NY and MA, for virtual appointments only. Sometimes the roads we chose to traverse become less easy to navigate as situations change, circumstances reach beyond our control, or life simply needs some readjusting to get back on track. I strive to provide individual clients and couples with a vehicle to discover the answers that they seek about themselves and their relationships. I help clients learn the tools they need to navigate the road on their own, and find the healing that they desire.

Thanks for showing up here. By doing the work to even navigate to this page, you are taking a huge step for yourself. We all have thoughts, feelings, & behaviors that keep us stuck in patterns that don’t always serve us or our loved ones well. The great news is that these patterns are learned from a variety of experiences, meaning they can also be un-learned with concentrated effort and a willingness to change. Therapy can be a liberating space where those patterns are examined and new perspectives that better serve us are developed over time. This work requires immense vulnerability, but this is often not a starting point.

Unfortunately, I am not accepting new clients at this time. It takes a lot of courage and commitment to look for a therapist for your family or your child, so first of all, it is wonderful you have gotten this far. The families and children I see are resilient and wanting things to improve, which means different things to each of them, and I'm here to help figure out how to do that. I aim to do the same with you, to work collaboratively with you and your child/family to find out what would really work at home and in your everyday lives.

I believe the therapist's role is to be authentic and compassionate, as well as an active participant in helping you to overcome whatever concern brings you to therapy. In addition to listening to what you are struggling with in the moment, I try to help you find ways to manage the distress and more fully engage in your life. I use a combination of traditional talk therapy and skill-building, primarily drawing from CBT, DBT, and ACT.

The unconscious speaks, but unfortunately, most forms of mainstream treatment today are not listening, focused solely on symptom reduction. While these modalities may provide some short-term relief, they frequently fail over time because they do not address the underlying conflicts that led to the symptom being developed in the first place. In my practice, we will focus on unearthing and impacting the unconscious root causes of problems, not just the surface-level issues. I will help you to speak the unsayable and to interpret your unconscious, made manifest by dreams, slips of the tongue, bungled actions, and symptoms.

Are you a parent of a high-achieving adolescent or college student who seems to be withdrawing from school and from their friends? COVID created treacherous hurdles that high school and college students had to navigate including lack of socializing with peers and not having adequate support from teachers and inadequate learning opportunities for them to develop into confident students. Competition is now relentless due to 24 hour access to social media and kids just don't have enough down time to unplug. Are you a veteran of any of the conflicts in Afghanistan or Iraq?

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
