I have extensive experience providing individual and group therapy using psychodynamic processing, EMDR, mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Are past events causing you pain? Do you find yourself feeling stuck or out of control? Do you want to find a path towards recovery? This path starts with your brave choice to engage in therapy and doing the work to make a change. I believe that therapy can be a tool to help people process the past, build skills for the present and move forward with more awareness and an ability to create the life that they want to live. Our emotional pain doesn't just have to be tolerated or managed. Together we can find a path towards recovery so you can move forward with more self awareness, understanding and control.

Hi there! I am a psychologist with over 20 years of experience in the field. My experience has allowed me to bring a deeper perspective to situations, and I know the value of giving that feedback to my clients. I utilize a variety of approaches like CBT, EMDR, Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic and Existential therapies. I had a thriving practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, but chose to live in beautiful and active Boulder instead. Because I just recently opened my practice to in-person clients here, I have openings!

I draw from depth psychology, psychodynamic, humanistic, transpersonal and existential theories to inform my work.
As your therapist I will work hard to provide you with the tools to overcome obstacles and reach your personal goals. Unlocking your potential will be our primary aim along with developing an awareness of how we create our own blocks. You will also work towards becoming more yourself as strange as that may sound! This involves getting in touch with your own psyche to discover, or rediscover, what makes you tick. It can be an incredibly rewarding process.

Treatment Approaches used include: 1) EFT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy), 2) EMDR-level 1 & 2, 3) Family Systems, 4) Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, 5) Psychodynamic.
Unique to my practice is my ability to mirror your innate wisdom. With this relational focus, whether you are coming in for individual or couples therapy, you'll begin to work through issues, and increase your confidence while doing so. I hold a safe space that is conducive to exploring those scary and sometimes dark places that we fear, like broken heartedness, and come out the other side with tenderness, wisdom, & contentment.

With my abilities rooted in empathy, flexibility and creativity, my practice is highly integrative, trauma informed, and based in relational, psychodynamic, and client-centered approaches.
If you struggle with mastering your circumstances, they may end up mastering you. This is a reality we all face, but the time and effort required to do so can be overwhelming. My experience is centered around neurodivergent populations who struggle with emotions and executive functioning. I view each client with holistic, person-centered views of a unique and complex individual rather than just a diagnosis. As an abstract thinker, I specialize in helping you tie the pieces together in a new, autonomous and empowering way. I strive to be genuine and collaborative in sessions-- come talk to me about anything, I would love to listen!

My approach to therapy is psychodynamic, focusing on how emotional and relational experiences contribute to past and present suffering.
The problems and symptoms bringing you to seek therapy might be connected to things you wish never happened. This can be overwhelming to feel and vulnerable to invite another person to be with you. Deep down you may be hoping for change and eager for healing, but unsure of how to get it. I believe psychotherapy is a sacred process that can look underneath the surface and explore deeply-rooted issues to help create long lasting and significant change. My hope is to partner with you to help you understand yourself, deepen your relationships with others, and foster your healing journey.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
