However, the approach I most frequently use is psychodynamic with an attachment theory lens.
I enjoy working with clients who are ready for change and desire to learn and break generations of trauma. My goal is to serve mi gente. We come from a long line of "echale ganas," but don't stir the pot. This can be both confusing and exhausting. I help individuals heal generational trauma and childhood wounds. Healing these traumas and wounds will allow individuals and generations to live authentically. A life rich in confidence, culture, and abundance. I use a Faith-Based Perspective where my beliefs are not forced on anyone. Allowing God to work through me to help fill you with strength, love, and courage.

I am driven to ensure that my clients feel a sense of belonging and understanding, allowing them to unload the weight they carry. Judgment and indifference have no place in my space. There is only healing, reparation, and reconciliation.

I customize your treatment to fit you with diverse interventions of therapy including Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Crisis Intervention Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
You do not need to have a mental health disorder to seek therapy. Sometimes we just need someone to listen and provide extra support through life transitions and challenges. I'm pleased to be that person for you in your life. Everyone suffers from life's struggles, but healing begins through connections to both ourselves and the people in our lives. We all are resilient and have the aptitude to feel peace and acceptance with relationships and within.

Since 1999, my practice has been guided by a deep belief in the transformative power of understanding our childhood experiences to improve how we think and behave as adults. By exploring and gaining insight into these foundational experiences, we can challenge and update the beliefs that no longer serve us, facilitating personal growth and healthier relationships. I specialize in an integrative therapeutic approach, combining Internal Family Systems (IFS) with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), alongside other targeted interventions like letter writing and psychodynamic therapy.

I use a variety of modalities, including psychodynamic, solution-focused, mindfulness, and EMDR.
No matter your story, I will meet you at the point of your specific need. Whether you are a mother experiencing a perinatal mood disorder while desperately trying to hold on; if you are an adult having difficulty reconciling your needs for love and care with what have so far been disappointing and invalidating relationships; whether you feel like you have been anxious and depressed for longer than you can remember; or you struggle for your body to believe what your mind has heard a thousand times - that you are safe and valued and loved - I can help.

I primarily use psychodynamic and insight-oriented approaches in facilitating self-growth and lasting changes.
My clients seek psychotherapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, lost, or even a profound sense of emptiness. This might be about a number of things; job stress, day-to-day life, transition, adjustment, loss, identity issues, cultural conflicts, physical health, relational difficulties, trauma, or long-standing issues. They also come with a variety of goals; learning better communication skills, feeling more wholesome, gaining a deeper self-understanding, wanting to regain a sense of control, processing painful aspects of their lives, making changes, or simply to feel heard and deeply understood.

Therapy at its best, is a transformative and deeply meaningful experience. I work with anyone who is called towards better understanding themselves, their behaviors, and their suffering so that they can live a more soulful life. As a trauma-informed therapist, I help clients process pain so that what is stuck within their body can have an opportunity to be released. This process gives clients a chance to become more present and free to live the life they desire.

My goal is to help people live fully and unencumbered by their past. All too often we are held back by our attitudes and behaviors, confused as to why we feel anxious, sad or lost. It is difficult to make changes when you don't understand the reason behind your thoughts and behaviors. Understanding ourselves and our past in a deeper way allows us to break free of unhealthy relationships and attitudes. The more aware we are of ourselves and the world the more choices we have as to how we live our lives.

Are you having difficulty coping with a recent loss or significant life transition that has left you feeling alone, confused, and overwhelmed? Maybe you’re struggling to deal with the end of a relationship, or you’re a new mom adjusting to the stresses and demands of motherhood, These recent life changes may have caused old traumas to resurface, forcing you back into survival mode and feeling on-edge, making it difficult to find a way forward. Whatever your circumstance, you know you can't keep managing these intense emotions alone.

In your psychotherapy with me, I will aim to help you feel understood as we explore the life difficulties you have faced, and currently face. I emphasize empathy in my work, and provide a safe environment in which to help you process your painful experiences and understand how they may be influencing your current struggles. Unprocessed emotional pain is commonly at the core of the symptoms we experience; yet it is often dismissed or suppressed. We will process your feelings and experiences to help make sense out of them and reduce your symptoms.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
