It is a privilege to do this work and I enjoy working with diverse client populations and with different challenges. I enjoy working with adults who grapple with anxiety and depression, especially those who may be asking themselves, "why am I like this or why do I feel so guilty all the time, or perhaps even, why do I struggle with relationships?" My clients enjoy working with a practitioner who places a high priority on fostering authentic connections and cultivating strong, meaningful therapeutic relationships.

EMDR is one of the most effective methods to stimulate the brain and body’s natural ability towards healing. EMDR is an evidence-based modality that uses eye movement, tapping, or sound to help the brain heal from difficult life experiences. EMDR can help with the treatment of PTSD, trauma, depression, and anxiety. This therapy is rewarding, and it could bring strength to situations that may have seemed hopeless.

Therapy is the journey back to yourself, short-term to clarify a course of action or longer, looking at patterns that have led to pain: overwhelm, isolation, poor boundaries, addiction, depression, loneliness, stress, and more. Our focus will be on who you are, what you need, and what you want to be in your life. Even when you feel disconnected from yourself, weighed down by problems and compromises, there is an essential and valuable you--to be expressed and to be lived. My goal is to help you to connect to, build, and express this person. My life's work is with people working to heal their relationship with themselves

Do you wonder why you make plans, have goals but often don't follow through? Or you stay in bed most of the day and feel unproductive? Maybe you feel unmotivated and neglect social events? Sometimes you feel anxious and start to panic at the thought of leaving the house or going to an event with a lot of people. Do you find yourself avoiding your friends calls or cutting off those who are important to you? Do you feel like you just can't move forward and think about your past too much? Do you want to live again? I'm glad you're finally taking that step to talk to someone about it. It is the most selfless thing you can do.

Are you struggling to move forward in your life? Whether it's crippling anxiety, fear, depression, loneliness, stress, relationship/family issues, or trauma, there is hope. I have been helping adults who struggle with these problems for the past 5 years. It's not easy to ask for help but it's the first step in learning how to move forward in times when things feel hopeless. I received my Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology at the Vanguard University of Southern California.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
