Psychodynamic therapy is a collaborative process which involves the therapist and client engaging in a non-judgmental but honest dialogue. My practice is informed by the principles of Transference-Focused Psychotherapy which describes how parts of our mind are shaped by our early experiences and by the often contradictory images we have formed of ourselves and others over time. Engaging in this dialogue cultivates increased insight and self-awareness in the client which can facilitate a decrease in depression, anxiety, compulsive and impulsive behavior, debilitating (“toxic”) shame, and other roadblocks to a rich and rewarding life.

Using psychodynamic, trauma-informed, somatic, and narrative approaches, I work to understand the circumstances of mental suffering.
I specialize in working with emerging adults, ages 18-29, and value supporting individuals through this in-between stage of life that brings complex challenges and opportunities for growth. Therapy is a space to learn more about the way you respond to the world and what circumstances impact your access to community and self-care. I work with folks seeking to explore depression, anxiety, gender and sexuality, systemic and interpersonal trauma, eating disorders, relationships, self-harm recovery, somatic concerns, creativity, and career and academic planning. I am LGBTQIA affirming, racial justice, kink, and body-positive allied.

My practice embodies emotional and behavioral self-regulation, multiple treatment modalities (including psychodynamic, attachment, cognitive-behavioral, relational, motivational, trauma-informed, and strength-based), and mindfulness techniques and nature therapy.
Waking up to another morning feeling the same anxiety and dread about your job, school, self-identity, partner, or family? Does life feel like all too much? Or maybe even empty? Are you ready to take steps forward while being present in the right here, right now? To feel excited by life and at peace with it? To breathe in fresh air, whatever your obstacles? My approach begins with you and your relationship with yourself, the people around you, and your environment. We all suffer from common problems in life, love, and work, but the solutions that work for each of us are as unique as we are.

I work primarily from a psychodynamic and relational perspective.
Rewarding personal, professional and romantic relationships are so fundamental to our happiness, yet they can be so elusive. I am a Clinical Psychologist that works with individuals, couples and families that may be struggling to find fulfillment in their relationships with themselves and others. Issues getting in the way might include depression, anxiety, loneliness, interpersonal difficulties, and PTSD. I help clients process and work through current and past life stressors and traumas, such as sexual traumas, infertility, loss, transitioning to parenthood and career changes.

Operating from this foundation of trust, I utilize an integrative approach that draws upon my training in psychodynamic psychotherapy with a focus on mindfulness, CBT/DBT and advanced trauma studies.
I specialize in supporting people as they navigate the impact of stress, trauma, loss, and life transitions. Our minds and bodies can react to life’s stressors in a range of ways, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties. We all rely on methods of coping that, over time, may become more harmful than helpful. Our work will help you better understand the source of these struggles and put you on a path towards the health, happiness, and fulfillment that you deeply deserve.

I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from psychodynamic as well as cognitive-behavioral theories.
I became a therapist because I truly believe in the healing that can result from having a trusting, non-judgmental environment in which to process emotions. I practice from an attachment-focused, trauma-informed lens that emphasizes a sense of safety, honesty, and choice. In our work together, we will identify your needs and goals, and we will collaborate to address them at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My priority is to create a safe and nurturing space for you to explore your insights, feelings, challenges, and strengths.

I use psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and holistic approaches (among others) in sessions.
I am a bilingual (Spanish) Psychotherapist who approaches each session acknowledging that an individual's reality is unique, with a sense of humor, no judgement, and with a person-centered stance. Trust and the ability to be vulnerable are not expectations that I hold for initial sessions. I understand that trust is earned and, without it, having an honest dialogue is challenging. You are your own best expert and together we will tailor a treatment plan with the hope that our work will illuminate the path toward achieving your established goals.

I’m a psychodynamic talk therapist.
No one likes struggling. It's hard. And even though we don't all talk about, we all do it --we struggle. It feels easier to struggle alone because it's safe. But deep down we're looking for someone to share it with. We're looking for someone to understand us, make sense of our feelings, and offer us support along the way. Hard to find, isn't it? Well, that's where I come in. Whether you're overwhelmed, alone, or struggling with a new major life transition, I can help you. Therapy can help you. Together we will figure out your feelings: what they mean, where they come from, and what you want to do with them.

My approach is primarily psychodynamic.
Are you feeling overwhelmed or stuck? Maybe the things that used to help you feel better aren’t working anymore, or are making things worse. Whatever the reason you are seeking therapy, I believe that seeking help in this way reflects your fortitude and hope. I view therapy as a means of further cultivating these strengths and as a process that can allow for lasting change and expanding possibilities.

I prefer to take an integrative approach to psychotherapy incorporating elements from both psychodynamic therapy, and CBT into my practice.
I understand the decision to pursue therapy is not always an easy one. I recognize it can be intimidating to share your personal details with a relative stranger. As a therapist, I place an emphasis on cultivating a safe and supportive environment, where you can share your thoughts and feelings without judgement. It is my belief that all of my patients are capable of self- efficacy and living their best lives. Therapy is a place where we can further explore and gain insight into your thoughts and feelings.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Psychodynamic therapy in 11201, also known as insight-oriented therapy, evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis. Like adherents of psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapists believe that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness promotes insight and resolves conflict. But psychodynamic therapy is briefer and less intensive than psychoanalysis and also focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client, as a way to learn about how the client relates to everyone in their life.
