My approach is primarily psychodynamic.
Are you feeling overwhelmed or stuck? Maybe the things that used to help you feel better aren’t working anymore, or are making things worse. Whatever the reason you are seeking therapy, I believe that seeking help in this way reflects your fortitude and hope. I view therapy as a means of further cultivating these strengths and as a process that can allow for lasting change and expanding possibilities.

I utilize a blend of evidence-based therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based interventions, existential, humanistic, and psychodynamic approaches.
An effective therapy experience is one that supports a person in recognizing their own capabilities and potential, while using strengths to mitigate challenges. My hope is to assist you in cultivating a deeper understanding of your own intrapsychic road map and emotional terrain. I am a firm believer that every session should give you a piece of your own puzzle and over time help you gain the skills to navigate your own thoughts, control your behavioral and emotional responses, and understand your relationship patterns and conflicts.

I provide a psychodynamic approach to therapy both in vivo and online.
I am attuned to the stressors of adolescents and young adults in these uncertain and frightening times. I am aware of what goes on in schools, at work, in the community and at home, and I can assist folks in unpacking trauma, establishing health patterns, and creating positive relationships with the self and with others. Many don't know exactly what brings them to therapy, but something doesn't feel right and they want to know why or make changes. Change is inevitable, and so very scary, particularly for young people. Folks want to feel heard, seen, and like they matter and that their struggles are real and valid.

I draw from psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and experiential mind-body methods, including dream analysis, guided imagery, gestalt techniques, Mindfulness, and EMDR tailored to your needs.
With 20 years experience I join you in a collaborative process to explore and resolve the obstacles to your growth and healing. I work with adults who want to improve their relationships, manage professional conflicts, come to grips with panic and anxiety, and build self confidence and esteem. I ask simple questions to open new avenues of thought and overcome self-defeating patterns that may be rooted in the past. This self reflection organically leads to more adaptive coping skills and transformative change for greater fulfillment.

Psychodynamic therapy is a collaborative process which involves the therapist and client engaging in a non-judgmental but honest dialogue. My practice is informed by the principles of Transference-Focused Psychotherapy which describes how parts of our mind are shaped by our early experiences and by the often contradictory images we have formed of ourselves and others over time. Engaging in this dialogue cultivates increased insight and self-awareness in the client which can facilitate a decrease in depression, anxiety, compulsive and impulsive behavior, debilitating (“toxic”) shame, and other roadblocks to a rich and rewarding life.

My practice embodies emotional and behavioral self-regulation, multiple treatment modalities (including psychodynamic, attachment, cognitive-behavioral, relational, motivational, trauma-informed, and strength-based), and mindfulness techniques and nature therapy.
Waking up to another morning feeling the same anxiety and dread about your job, school, self-identity, partner, or family? Does life feel like all too much? Or maybe even empty? Are you ready to take steps forward while being present in the right here, right now? To feel excited by life and at peace with it? To breathe in fresh air, whatever your obstacles? My approach begins with you and your relationship with yourself, the people around you, and your environment. We all suffer from common problems in life, love, and work, but the solutions that work for each of us are as unique as we are.

I use psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and holistic approaches (among others) in sessions.
I am a bilingual (Spanish) Psychotherapist who approaches each session acknowledging that an individual's reality is unique, with a sense of humor, no judgement, and with a person-centered stance. Trust and the ability to be vulnerable are not expectations that I hold for initial sessions. I understand that trust is earned and, without it, having an honest dialogue is challenging. You are your own best expert and together we will tailor a treatment plan with the hope that our work will illuminate the path toward achieving your established goals.

Reaching out to a therapist can be a daunting task. It is difficult to make changes and break unhealthy patterns and anxiety and depression can feel crippling. However, most people find that it is worth it because therapy can play a large role in helping individuals lead happier, more productive lives. We all face challenges but with the proper support, your challenges do not need to define you or stop you from achieving happiness and success. While my orientation is primarily psychodynamic, I believe in treating each patient as an individual and also use Emotionally Focused Tapping (EFT) which many clients find very beneficial.

In addition, I work with couples and families. There are multiple types of therapy which can be used, depending on the treatment goals of the patient, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and supportive psychotherapy. My ideal client would wish to use talk therapy to improve their general well-being and daily functioning. They may need help understanding their emotions and how they function on their own and within relationships.

I prefer to take an integrative approach to psychotherapy incorporating elements from both psychodynamic therapy, and CBT into my practice.
I understand the decision to pursue therapy is not always an easy one. I recognize it can be intimidating to share your personal details with a relative stranger. As a therapist, I place an emphasis on cultivating a safe and supportive environment, where you can share your thoughts and feelings without judgement. It is my belief that all of my patients are capable of self- efficacy and living their best lives. Therapy is a place where we can further explore and gain insight into your thoughts and feelings.

I draw on a variety of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness techniques to best meet the unique needs of my clients.
There are times in life when our usual coping strategies and support networks are not enough and feelings such as anxiety, depression, helplessness, and inadequacy can take over. It is at these times that psychotherapy can help to successfully navigate life's challenges. I help clients to better understand how past and current experiences impact their current wellbeing, and to make positive changes that will contribute to improved feelings of competence in managing relationships, changes, and other stressors more productively. I specialize in working with individuals who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, relationships, life transitions, parenting, and loss.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Psychodynamic therapy in 11201, also known as insight-oriented therapy, evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis. Like adherents of psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapists believe that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness promotes insight and resolves conflict. But psychodynamic therapy is briefer and less intensive than psychoanalysis and also focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client, as a way to learn about how the client relates to everyone in their life.
