My training is in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
We often feel lost when solutions cannot be found for the challenges we face. It's at this point that our challenges become obstacles that block us from fully living our lives. Unfortunately, time doesn't heal all pain and our anxiety, anger, depression, and fear don't always go away on their own. As a therapist, my goal is to help you better understand yourself, find purpose in your pain, alleviate your stress, and make more space for creativity, love, and happiness in your life.

My therapeutic approach blends psychodynamic and psychoanalytic techniques with cognitive-behavioral interventions to foster a unique, effective therapeutic experience tailored to each individual.
With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I have a deep respect and understanding of the positive impact of the therapeutic process. I have dedicated my career to helping others, and I get a profound sense of purpose working with clients to help them navigate the complexities of life, better understand their issues, and meet their potential. My initial work with foster youth and other underserved populations not only fueled my passion to be a therapist, but gave me first-hand insight into the strength and resilience of the human spirit, and the immense change and growth we are capable of with the right support.

I also use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and a Psychoanalytic approach to assist in exploring origins of problems, helping to find meaning and healing from various experiences, and learn new ways to move out of survival mode.
I treat survivors of Narcissistic abuse, codependency, divorce, coparenting, anxiety, women's issues, CPTSD, and trauma survivors. Clients often come to me tired of living in survival mode. They want someone to see them for who they really are, without feeling like they need to say the right things in therapy, or hold back parts of themselves. While working with me, I encourage you to show up as your truest self, free from judgment. If you can't be honest about who you really are in therapy, where can you?

Your challenge may be aging, illness or chronic disease. Your job or your job satisfaction may be insufficient. Relationships and support from family and loved ones seem inadequate. I can help you gain the strength and flexibility needed to surmount the challenges you face. My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a more joyful life.

My psychotherapy approach is informed from a relational, intersubjective, and contemporary psychoanalytic frame of reference.
Patients who come to seek treatment from me are often looking for help with depression, anxiety, self esteem and relationship struggles that have been either life long or situational. I work with patients who are interested in the safety and trust of a therapy relationship that offers in-depth exploration of emotional and relational issues, gaining insight into the underlying causes of symptoms and patterns, developing a better relationship to self and others, ultimately establishing greater satisfaction and peace in going through the world.

My masters and doctoral education and clinical training is rooted in depth psychology, which includes both Jungian and psychoanalytic approaches.
I am enthusiastic to work with individuals and couples who are curious about themselves, want to cultivate insight, and are motivated to make changes. Through listening and tending to neuroses, compulsions and addictions, mood issues, interpersonal problems, creative blocks, dreams, spiritual experiences and synchronicities, disruptive psychological symptoms can not only be reduced, but understood for a more meaningful, tolerant, and enriching life.

I draw from Psychoanalytic, Existential and Cognitive therapy to inform and direct treatment.
Unlike psychiatry where medication is prescribed to prevent your feelings from being experienced, my practice is designed to make sense and make use of the sensations we are receiving from ourselves. Professionally bringing our attention to psychological symptoms puts us in direct contact with the core of our conflict(s) and sets forth a personal resolution.

This is about you, your life, your relationships, and what is important to you. We can enhance your life, and I am honored to partake in that process. We all are bound by certain factors out of our control, our genes, our parents, upbringing etc. However, amid that construct, we can choose to be who we want to, and I can help with that endeavor. I love therapy, and I love being a therapist. I'm inspired by anyone who wants to change some aspect of themselves or their life.

Career Counseling, Depression/Anxiety are primary specializations. I believe the client is his/her own best therapist and already possesses the necessary wisdom for healing to begin. I can facilitate this process by providing a safe, non-intrusive, supportive environment. I prefer to acknowledge, build and reinforce the client's strengths rather than focus on old negative beliefs. 25+ years experience.

Psychoanalytic Therapists

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?

Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?

Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?

Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?

Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
