Do you find yourself feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious? Is your child experiencing behavioral issues? Everyone needs additional support from time to time to deal with life's challenges. I view clients as experts of their own experiences and take a collaborative approach to counseling. Working together, we can develop the tools and insights needed to achieve your therapeutic goals. In addition to this person-centered approach, I utilize solutions-focused, acceptance and commitment (ACT), cognitive behavioral (CBT), and dialectical behavioral (DBT) therapeutic modalities and mindfulness tools based on clients' needs.

I view therapy as a collaboration between myself and the client. I rely on my client's knowledge about themselves and their identified strengths, in combination with my knowledge and application of different treatment models, assisting the client in formulating goals and making healthy changes in their life. I understand the importance of connecting easily and genuinely with a client, helping them to feel comfortable in the therapeutic process and successful in treatment.

In 2015 the agency was purchased and took on new ownership and we became Woodbridge Therapy Group. With the recent change in ownership, we have expanded our number of providers, added more services, and renewed our investment in the community.

I specialize in complex trauma (C-PTSD), dissociation, addiction, depression, anxiety, relationships, and ADHD. Starting therapy can feel overwhelming. People often carry their pain for years; scared that they are broken, that they don’t deserve happiness, or that changing will only make things worse. But the fact that you are here now shows that a part of you wants more from life, and is ready to try again. Though it takes courage and perseverance to face this pain and risk trusting another person to help, I hope you will listen to the part of you the brought you here today.

Psychoanalytic Therapists

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?

Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?

Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?

Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?

Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
