Since 2007, we have supported veterans and military families through our Hope for Heroes program. With 14 counselors and 2 acupuncturists, we have a unique approach to treating individuals and families.

In my assessment practice, I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients, including children and teens struggling academically or behaviorally, adults who have suffered a traumatic brain injury, individuals diagnosed with medical conditions that affect the brain, older adults concerned about memory lapses or early cognitive decline, and people with complex psychiatric disorders like severe depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia.

My main focus is trauma and PTSD. My secondary focus is on Narcissistic Abuse Syndrome and Parental Alienation. I also do a lot of work with anxiety (social and generalized), addictions, depression, abuse (of all kinds). These are often tied to my two main focuses. I have a lot of experience working with military personnel and veterans.

I am a board-certified Neuropsychologist through the American Board of Professional Psychology specializing in Psychological and Neuropsychological testing. I was the Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist on active duty in Department of Defense until retirement after 26 years total military service. As a retired U. S. Army Major, I administer Psychological testing for PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury. I administer testing for Dementia, Alzheimer’s, ADHD/ADD, Autism, Depression, Anxiety and other Psychological and Neuropsychological Disorders.

Bolivar is a native of South Florida, where he attended Florida State University’s School of Social Work. His studies focused on child welfare and cultural studies. He graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Social Work. Immediately following his undergraduate studies, Bolivar knew his life’s work would be helping youth overcome trauma and strengthen families. These passions led Bolivar to a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Child Welfare Studies.

Testing for purpose is my specialty. Evaluation for accommodations for the GRE, MCAT, LSAT, GMAT, FINRA, Bar Exams and other professional evaluations. Disability examination for SSI and SSDI, Mental capacities testing for older or disabled persons for Guardianship. In addition, I am also an experienced psychotherapist with training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Insight-oriented, and I also use Gestalt and Internal Family Systems methods, working with you to embrace your gifts and differences and create meaning for a valued life.

I am fascinated by the intricacies of human behavior and the workings of the mind, which led me to pursue a career in psychology rooted in my background in neuroscience. My journey in this field has been driven by an insatiable curiosity to understand what shapes us into who we are. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse array of patients, guiding them through their challenges and helping them find answers and solutions. Mr. Simmons utilizes a mind/body-based treatment approach that combines relevant talk therapy modalities, psychoeducation, mindfulness and somatic stabilization techniques, along with Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing, Multichannel Eye Movement Integration (MEMI), Emotional Freedom Technique, and Trauma Informed treatment techniques to address client's presenting symptoms and achieve a variety of treatment goals.

Hello! I'm Kailee and my passion for mental health work stems from my own experiences within the field. A social worker once saved me and it ignited a fire within my soul to help others who struggle with trauma, women's issues, or suicidal ideation. I am an Air Force veteran, and I am passionate about helping fellow veterans, military members, and first responders. I also work with perinatal mood & anxiety disorders. I use an eclectic approach to helping my clients as I believe there is no "one size fits all" for everyone. I strongly believe that you have the answers, sometimes you just need help finding them!

I started Family Matters Counseling Center after I realized that a family system is one that the client creates and is not born into. From here I developed a passion to learn each unique families story to help them overcome their obstacle in maintaining balance within their family system.
