As an existential therapist, I am passionate about working with professionals, especially creatives (artists, designers, entrepreneurs), who feel like they are “not good enough” or who worry about living up to others’ expectations. We can work together to help you learn to love yourself for who you are, and not for what you accomplish. My speciality also extends to treating issues associated with trauma, particularly those of Traumatic Brain Injury. I have successfully helped clients with TBI to reclaim a sense of agency in their relationships and careers.

Sometimes you need a perspective outside of your own circle to help you recognize the patterns holding you back. Most people are doing the best they can with what they’ve got but we all need a little push at times to get where we need to go. I’m here to give you that push. As our lives continue to unfold during these challenging times I’m available to provide you with a collaborative and judgment-free zone that sets aside the time and space you need to be able to heal and grow. I’m a warm, spirited, and patient therapist whose goal is to enable people to find more balance and joy in their lives.

In 2023 and beyond, my work ethic continues: Working together, we greet Pain and Suffering and ask "How will you serve my development?" Psychotherapy isn't about finding perfection, but pursuing wholeness and respecting our Self. It's simple. It's complicated. It can be very difficult, and and there are laughter and surprises to be enjoyed. Go for it: tend to your emotional to-do list, relationship overhaul/finesse, deep discovery, gather energy to take your journey to the next level. Mid-life? Starting out on your own? Starting/ending a relationship? Creative and stuck? Uncertain times require what we have— wisdom and creativity.

Therapy is about learning to love yourself and grow despite your mistakes. It is about finding the joy in giving without expecting anything in return. It is about welcoming your struggles with the same strength and enthusiasm that you welcome your victories, for it is through our struggles that we grow. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Therapists

When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.

What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilization, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counseling.

How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?

The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.

What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?

If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
