I am a humanistic therapist, working from an attachment based perspective. As a humanist I believe in combining a non-judgmental and supportive environment with intellectual curiosity to work with you as a whole person, thoughts and feelings.  In our relationship, I believe we are partners working together to determine root causes and patterns to find the best way forward. I’m Dr. Larissa Tate, a Clinical Psychologist with years of experience and specialize in working with people to overcome sleep difficulties, anxiety, and trauma. I believe therapy should be rooted in authenticity, compassion, and connection and I aim to collaboratively engage in a therapy process that is goal-directed and solution-focused so that we can achieve the changes you want to see. I strive to join my clients in figuring out why and how they've become "stuck," and then helping them move forward towards value and meaning.

I’m passionate about creating a resting place for spiritual souls that have experienced church hurt, spiritual trauma and those that are struggling with sexual addictions, helping them see how beautiful they are in the midst of uncertainty and change. When it feels like your life seems to be unraveling and entering unchartered territory, where once the sources of connection and safety no longer feel like a place of belonging, that can feel extremely scary. Without a safe place to process and heal from these wounds, this sense of unsettling won’t just magically disappear even if you leave that triggering environment.

It is my goal to help you heal and feel whole again. My hope is to meet you and make you feel like you’re talking to a friend in a safe space, where you feel heard, can be honest with yourself, and can start to feel relief. Maybe you’re going through a divorce; Are a newlywed struggling with your new chapter; Away at college and miss your parents; Can’t seem to keep up with life’s expectations; or feel like you just don’t know yourself anymore, I want to be the one person who you can depend on to be genuine, constant, and supportive.

Everyone experiences difficult or emotional situations. Sometimes, it can be difficult to cope with changes that feel overwhelming. You may be facing a divorce, or an important decision in your parenting, work, or life transitions. My practice is devoted to helping children, adolescents, adults, and families work through family and parenting issues, which may include separation, divorce, remarriage, blending their families, loss and/or grief. I bring my current experience as a counselor, my former experience in family and child development, and my personal family experiences with divorce, remarriage, and parenting, to each client.

I have worked with children, adolescents, families, and adults for over 20 years. This has given me experience in school settings, both in the elementary and high school areas, as well as, a mental health setting which implemented a team approach to care including psychiatrists, nurses, and psychotherapists. I have gained valuable experience in treating various disorders, as well as issues within families. Although I have worked in a variety of settings, my goal has remained constant: do all I can to encourage people to feel valued, to know they are cared about, and to feel empowered to act from their own inner wisdom.
