I see clients who strive toward an authentic self, seek personal growth to achieve their full potential. I have expertise in issues with anxiety, depression, and trauma and practice clinical interventions that are strength-based and solution-focused. Aligning treatments with clients' cultural and personal background is fundamental to my approach. Through deep listening a tailored treatment plan is created. I believe that psychological and behavioral problems are expressions of pain and efforts to cope with unacceptable environmental demands and consider therapy an important step in restoring resilience and making healing possible.
I graduated from Harvard University with a doctoral degree in psychology and an internship in cognitive behavioral therapy at McLean Hospital. My clinical approach is interpersonal, existential, and trauma-focused with the goal of promoting self- awareness through trust and understanding. I am passionate about my profession as a psychologist.
I am a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Georgetown University, a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the author of three books, several chapters, and peer-reviewed journal articles.
