Because I have personal life experience in parenting, activism, dance, and working in hospitality and tech (from start-ups to multinational corporations), I can relate to people in many walks of life.
Hello, I'm currently offering in-person and video sessions with individual teens and adults. I have 10+ years of experience practicing Gestalt Therapy: a blend of self exploration, body awareness, and creative ways to integrate fragmented parts of ourselves. I also use Cognitive Behavioral exercises, art activities, and guided meditations, depending on your goals and interest. Most of my clients are in early to mid-life, improving their relationships to self and others, lifestyle, life purpose, transitions, and overcoming obstacles. I help people manage anxiety and depression, and navigate the complexities of being human!

Amidst the joy of being a new parent, one can feel bewilderment and self-doubt, sometimes desires and disappointments from childhood.
Major life events, both positive and negative, can require emotional adjustments that take us by surprise. Even desired life changes like parenthood, marriage, and graduation can lead to unexpected feelings. Current research on attachment confirms that humans are more resilient in the face of major life change and trauma when they feel understood and supported by another. I use psychotherapy and EMDR in my practice. In therapy I am direct, but I provide the empathy and compassion that we all need. My patients feel seen by me and in turn, seek out other fortifying relationships.

As parents and clinicians, we know it is hard to have a unique brain in a typical world. We know you need different navigational tools in these turbulent waters. So, we designed a program based on well-researched therapies for all ages that will strengthen core brain functions - attention, memory, processing speed and problem-solving - and increase social skills. For parents, we work together to find the right community supports and develop the skills you need as a parent to support a calm and thriving family life.

I have a special interest in working with relationship issues, trauma, behavioral issues, eating disorders, parent coaching, divorce/separation/single parenthood, and medical issues (cancer, infertility, postpartum depression, and type 1 diabetes, to name a few).
Feelings and thoughts, at times, may be difficult to manage. Anxiety, depression, painful entanglements, behavioral issues, and the lingering effects of damaging experiences can exhaust us. They may also interfere with relationships and affect behaviors. Finding meaning in difficult emotions and life events can be very helpful. My hope is to provide understanding and insight that creates a safe relationship and develops a sensible model for people to discover potentially destructive patterns, what really matters to them, and how one can live a more creative, flexible, and full life.

Are you tired of the power struggles with your toddler or preschooler? Are you navigating life changing events with your child, such as loss, divorce, adoption, moving, traumatic accidents or events? Does your little one have challenges in life with special needs and developmental delays? One of the hardest part of parenting is seeing your child being in pain and feeling like there is nothing you can do to help. I support families with young children to transform what seems like daily survival struggles into thriving in life and in relationships.

I also enjoy helping parents navigate the challenges of parenting, from infancy through the teen years.
East meets West. It is a phrase we hear often but how does it translate into practice? The pull lies in the strength of the familiar; the push is an urge to create space and jump into the unfamiliar. As an individual who was raised between two cultures, I offer a warm and safe space to discuss cultural competency as it relates to your life. Retaining your cultural values and traditions while simultaneously assimilating to the societal norms of your geographic upbringing can lead to many questions about ourselves in the past, present and future. I believe strongly in your ability to grow if nurtured in an encouraging environment.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
