I work with people dealing with emotional problems that may manifest as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and trauma. The encounters with emotions seem powerful, overwhelming and mysterious. They may feel so powerful, that you push away, stuff down, use substances, lash out or even allow the emotions to direct your actions and thoughts. It can feel confusing of how you can build strength to overcome emotional wounds. How do you make sense of what doesn't always make sense? Exploring your emotions with a therapist can be healing and encouraging.

My focus is on an individuals needs and goals for the future. I am motivated to help one make effective changes for their future while resolving the past by working on the present. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan with a double major in Psychology and Sociology and Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Wayne State University. I use a Person-Centered approach and pride myself on being down to earth and easy to talk to in what I refer to as my "judgment free zone". I understand how hard it can be to open up to a stranger with very personal issues. I believe I have a natural ability to make my clients feel comfortable and safe while supporting them to have the courage to share their story with me. I have over 15 years of counseling experience in a wide variety of areas.

I'm also trained in EMDR, a highly effective method for treating trauma and PTSD. EMDR often requires fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy to achieve therapeutic goals.
