After completing a Ph.D. program, I did a postdoctoral externship at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center (located on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania). I have 30+ years of diverse clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of emotional, mental, and personality disorders. Professional roles have included outpatient clinical/program director, adjunct faculty at Penn State, and supervision of advanced graduate students.
The purpose and focus of my work is to help families as well as individuals end self-defeating thought and behavior patterns and to engage in a growth process which leads to enhanced self-esteem, personal goal achievement, and healthier relationships.
My treatment methods draw upon several theoretical models, are eclectic, and are tailored to the special needs of a client/family. Affiliations with local psychiatrists enable referrals for psychoactive medications to treat psychological disorders. I am trained to use biofeedback as an adjunctive treatment for anxiety problems.
