Hello there and welcome! I'm so glad you're here. Personal challenges require courage and belief in oneself to conquer. I believe perception plays a key role in the mental healthiness of individuals and many times distorted perception can hinder us from growth. I love working with individuals who seek to develop healthy coping mechanisms and increase overall self esteem. My passion in counseling is working with individuals who experience anxiety and other mood disorders in addition to challenges with life transitions, self-esteem, and social skills. I love working with children, adolescents, and young adults as individual clients.

As a former Division I Athlete and US National Team Member, I believe that one of the bravest things we can do is learning how to love ourselves through the process of owning our own storying. Often times the first brave step is just reaching out. Society tends to view therapy as something you need if you have “failed” on your own. However, I tend to think the counseling process is one where we invite someone else to walk alongside us on our journey of figuring out who we are. I believe that as humans we are designed for relationship, and we aren’t intended to do and figure it all out alone.

I provide an authentic therapeutic alliance with my clients. We work together to transform painful emotions into empowering energy needed for healing and balance. My manner is warm, positive and direct. I believe healing is always possible when we are allied with the right support system. I provide a safe and judgement-free experience for all!

With a therapeutic relationship filled with nurturing and collaboration, along with a bit of humor and playfulness, we can explore dynamics, improve skills, and overcome barriers. Together, we identify and utilize strengths in the process of facing more challenging emotional and relational struggles. My clients, which include children, adolescents, and adults, frequently address issues such as anxieties, OCD, ADHD, trauma, negative self-worth, school/work-based challenges, perfectionism, emotional regulation, preparation/adjustment to divorce, parenting, bullying, and the overall desire to improve key relationships.

My goal as a counselor is to help children, teens and young adults UNLEARN how to be their own worst enemies. Perhaps they're inflexible and always want things their way, leading to strained relationships with family and friends. Or they worry so much that it doesn't seem like they are fully living life anymore. Maybe their self esteem is so low, they've lost sight of what makes them a beautiful being. Childhood and adolescence is a time when a person learns about themselves and the world around them. I aim to meet a client where they are and understand how they view both themselves and the world. Then can change begin to occur.

Sarah Kate Guthrie is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor who graduated from Wake Forest University in 2023 with her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She attended The University of Georgia for her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and graduated in 2017. She has been in practice as an individual therapist since 2022 with LifeStance Health. Sarah Kate is a Georgia-native whose passion for those around her is as permeable as her love of the Georgia Bulldogs. Her heart lies in client-centered therapy as she makes a conscious effort to ensure all clients feel comfortable, valued, and understood.

My therapeutic philosophy is grounded in positive psychology. I believe that although we face challenges, we posses strengths. With support we can overcome emotional pain, be healed, be reconciled, and thrive. l use a variety of techniques during counseling sessions. My client centered approach includes narrative therapy, hope and family systems theory - genograms. I have over 17 years experience as a school counselor, I understand the school system. I know strategies to improve your child's grades. I will partner with you to strengthen your child's ability to deal with bullying, anxiety, and improve behavior.

I am a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in working with children and adolescents. I also work with adults. While post-graduate training, and teaching, have increased my skills, what makes me a good therapist are the beliefs I hold dear. I believe in people and their ability to heal and thrive. I believe that the connection I have with my clients not only allows them to open up to me, but others as well. Robyn Starks is a Resident in Counseling (RIC) who has more than 7 years of experience working with children, adults, individuals, and couples who are seeking help in coping with depression, anxiety, stress, grief, life transitions, communication, coping skills and parenting issues. Her passion includes learning alongside couples while helping them build and maintain fulfilling relationships through self-awareness and continued growth. Robyn completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Kennesaw State University and received his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from Richmont Graduate University.
