Over the span of my career, I have worked as a Bi-vocational professional as a Pastor and as a Counselor in the community. I have worked with many populations: Severe and Persistent Mentally Ill, Homeless, At Risk Youth, Adolescents, Foster Care Families, Abused Children, School Age Children, Fatherhood, Parenting, Marriages in trouble, Divorce, and couples. Dr. Virginia Fundora is a graduate of the University of Miami Counseling Psychology program where she received her doctorate. As a clinician whose professional focus centers on children, adolescents and families she strives to deliver interventions that will empower and improve the lives of her patients. Dr. Fundora completed her internship at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital where she specialized in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents diagnosed with chronic and serious medical illnesses. After internship she continued her training at a residential program providing intensive family and group therapy.

As someone who has recovered from PTSD myself, I know that healing is possible. I believe that changing our thinking about what triggers mean is really helpful. Often, we avoid triggers, but my philosophy and way of being act in the opposite manner: I see triggers as messengers and an invitation to delve deeper into our unconscious. Our symptoms are a form of communication; they are intelligent and exist for a reason. By following them, we can find a path to the root cause of our suffering.
