I am grateful you are embarking on this journey! Growing up as an artist and spending most of my early play time in nature, I learned to embody nature through making art. I describe myself as a culturally attentive, gentle, and contemplative therapist with the intention of helping you to fully uncover your authentic self. Using a combination of play, art-making, and somatic-based therapy, I aim to help young children and adolescents express and release parts of themselves more freely.

In recent years, all sense of 'normalcy' has been upended. From education to healthcare, many systems are failing us. Collective feelings of loneliness, hopelessness, and burnout are on the rise. The demands of daily life make no room for our mental health, which ends up neglected until crisis occurs. Have you been feeling stuck and are ready to feel empowered again? My first step as a psychotherapist is to meet the client where they are at in any given phase in treatment. I build rapport through my sense of warmth and empathy. The next step is to provide reflections so that the client can gain self-awareness and clarity, identifying patterns and understanding how systems and cultural factors have influenced the messages we have received throughout our lives. With this gained knowledge, the goal is to identify what has no longer been serving us so that we can reach empowerment and self-efficacy.

Born in North Carolina and raised in Georgia. Erica is half Okinawaiian Japanese and American Russian Jew. She graduated from Naropa University with an MA in Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Counseling. With great attention to what makes each of us unique, Erica loves to support clients in feeling more whole as themselves. Our journeys as humans can feel quite isolating and confusing. Erica has had the training to work with cases involving human rights, social justice, and domestic violence.

Courage is the foundation to every client's work. Often times, courage may be disguised as anxiety, fear or painful indecisiveness. Reach a better understanding, through testing or mapping out where you are, and really listen to your symptoms/ guides. Then I encourage you to plant courage through forgiveness and compassion so that you can practice, acceptance, confrontation, working through, and letting go.

I am a psychotherapist and a licensed intervention specialist. EMDR trained and Harvard trained mindfulness in clinical practice. I am a prepared enriched facilitator who helps couples identify their relationship strengths, gain understanding about the underlying dynamics that influence their communication, and help them develop skills to improve their growth areas. With more than 20 years of experience working with children, teens, adolescents, and families. I understand the many life challenges individuals face. I specialize in helping individuals heal from past traumatic events that impact their present and am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting. Additionally, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in addition to talk therapy to help clients with a variety of mental health concerns in their healing journey. For couples and families, I practice Emotionally Focused Therapy, DBT and Relational Life Therapy (RLT) approaches.
