I am a licensed clinical psychologist at Lifespan with 20 years of experience providing mental health services to children and adults. In addition to my doctoral degree I completed an additional two-year training program to specialize in neuropsychology. I work with patients with a variety of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, PTSD, memory impairment and concussions.

Lifespan is a center specializing in mental health diagnosis and treatment across all ages. We specialize in providing psychological testing, neuropsychological evaluations, and neurodevelopmental assessments and provide diagnostic clarity, referrals, resources, and treatment plans. We help in identifying learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, issues with attention, and memory and learning complaints, to name a few. Psychological testing can help to clarify between different diagnoses (e.g., ADHD vs Anxiety), provide answers about general difficulties you or your child may be having, and be used for schools to help accommodate you or your child’s needs. We help you better understand your strengths and identify areas of support. Furthermore, we specialize in pre-surgical evaluations (e.g., bariatric, reconstructive, etc.) and work directly with surgeons to optimize outcomes.

In many cases the depressed and anxious client is self medicating in some way to alter underlying feelings of depression, anxiety and intimacy/attachment issues. I use Somatic Experiencing, a very effective treatment for trauma/PTSD symptoms, helping the body and mind regulate itself. The Avery Centre has experienced and compassionate therapists ready to help children and adults suffering from trauma, grief, loss, and/or PTSD. After a crisis, loss, or trauma, each individual has their own way of grieving, and coping. Sadness, guilt, shock, anger, frustration, rage, and feelings of helplessness may occur. The healing process may begin with the passage of time and the support of loved ones; however, professional help may be needed for support during the initial shock of the situation and later on while experiencing different stages of the grief cycle. I am a licensed clinical psychologist at Lifespan who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults providing comprehensive psychological testing. I received my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, and completed an APA predoctoral internship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Throughout my graduate training and post-doctoral training, I have worked in hospitals, schools, community mental health, and outpatient clinic settings.

Richard Sypniewski is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPC343) who treats a wide range of mental health and personal issues. He has worked as a School Counselor since 2005, has experience at the college level as Adjunct Faculty and as a Community College Counselor and as Adjunct Faculty in the CSUSB Educational Psychology and Counseling Narrative program teaching coursework related to the LPCC Clinical License. He has been trained in working with adults and children experiencing emotional disorders and has a wide range of life experiences rooted in helping individuals from a variety of backgrounds and age demographics.
