As a mental health counselor as well as an art therapist, I appreciate the benefits of verbal therapy as well as art therapy, and I use both approaches in my work according to clients' interests, needs, goals and expressive styles. During times when it is difficult to verbally express emotional states, experiences, and thoughts, creative art expression can provide another outlet for communication, self-exploration and problem-solving, especially when paired with therapeutic guidance and support. My practice is focused specifically on psychological and neuropsychological assessments with children and adolescents, including testing for mood disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and learning disabilities. I have much experience working with those who struggle with PTSD, grief and loss, depression, anxiety-based disorders, spiritual distress or confusion, LGBTQ+ community, and more.

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to work with teenagers. Since obtaining my Masters of Social Work at the University of California, Berkeley in 1987, I have worked with teens in multiple settings. I have discovered that counseling can help teenagers with the most important tasks of adolescence. I work collaboratively with parents towards the primary goal of seeing their teenager launch successfully into adulthood. I am direct and honest and emphasize accountability and personal responsibility. I have found that teenagers appreciate that approach.

Most teens and young adults struggle with becoming overwhelmed and not sure how to deal with all the emotions that come up for them. So much is changing so quickly, and it can be difficult to feel like you are keeping up with the constant transitions.

I provide an acceptance oriented space where clients can explore the roots of patterns and emotions, allowing for healing and self-awareness. I seek to accompany individuals through life's obstacles, offering tools and insights to empower clients to facilitate positive change in their life. I aim to assist clients in healing from the past, finding meaning and joy in the present, and discovering their authentic selves.
