I am a licensed professional counselor with experience working with individuals, families and groups. I enjoy working with clients of all ages, but I have a special affinity for early adolescents and teenagers. My experiences as an educator serve as the foundation for working with these clients and their families. I use a client-centered approach and believe my clients are experts in their own lives. I view my role as therapist as a facilitator who assists clients in discovering their own truths and gaining a deeper sense of themselves.

The decision to seek therapy in times of turmoil is courageous and wise. Often we spend so much time caring for others and giving of ourselves, that we forget to attend to our own needs - emotionally, physically, and spiritually. At times a heartbreaking loss, illness, divorce, or other event is the catalyst for turning our attention inward. Other times the cause may be a need to gain better interpersonal skills, learn ways to reduce anxiety or trauma symptoms, or simply a desire to know ourselves better. I help teens, families, and adults who are struggling with trauma. This comes in many forms including complex, generational, and acute trauma. I believe that trauma can present itself in myriad of distressing symptoms including but not limited to outbursts, isolation, dissociation, depression, difficulty in relationships, anxiety and fear, and loss of self. I want to be able to work together with my clients to help relive what can often be a life long struggle with the symptoms of traumatic events.

We help families, couples, and individuals who are struggling. We offer them help when they are working through personal struggles, family concerns, the difficult teen years, emotional/behavioral issues, or other difficult life circumstances. This includes circumstances including depression, anxiety, self harming behavior, suicidal ideation, family communication issues, trauma, etc. We know this process can be scary and I commend you for starting it!

My specialty is Autonomic Healing Activation (AHA) and Relationship Therapy. AHA is a brain exercise that activates your brain to normalize stress for the mind, body, and spirit. If you don't believe in a spirit, you can focus on mind and body activation. Neurobiologically, the brain produces a way for you to heal, persevere, and grow by managing physical and/or emotional pain. Yes, this approach also works for physical illness and chronic pain. After I teach you, you can practice AHA on your own every day if you wish.
