I am fully certified in two evidence based therapies1) EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and 2) IFS or Internal Family Systems Therapy. In a very SAFE manner, they can be VERY effective. I emphasize the word SAFE because NOTHING is ever discussed unless YOU are comfortable discussing it. Children may exhibit difficulties that interfere with their social, academic or emotional functioning for many different reasons. I work with kids ages 6 and older to help identify the source(s) of these challenges. Using a comprehensive neuropsychological/psychological assessment, I evaluate children to identify individual strengths and areas of challenge, provide differential diagnoses, and offer treatment planning recommendations. Such an assessment provides parents with a better understanding of their child's unique cognitive and social/emotional functioning, as well as specific approaches geared towards a chid's success at home and school.

Dr. Kavanagh is the owner and founder of North Shore Children's Neuropsychology, which offer neuropsychological assessment, counseling, and consultation to children, adolescents, young adults, and their families in Boston's North Shore. Dr. Kavanagh earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, her master's degree in Developmental and Educational Psychology from Boston College, and her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Virginia. I focus on working with young male clients (ages 9-25), using a blend of coaching and therapy, focusing on emotional intelligence, leadership skills, confidence, healthy relationships, academic achievement, and athletic performance.
