Dr. Horstman was admitted to the independent professional practice of psychology in 1981. He received his B.A., M.S. & Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma in Psychology. He did his clinical internship at South County Mental Health Center in Suitland, Maryland. He has served as staff psychologist for the Dallas, Prince George's County, Maryland and Seattle police departments providing consultation, mental health and behavioral services. He also engaged in private practice counseling and consultation with businesses and organizations in Seattle, Everett, Bellevue and Tacoma, Washington.
Dr. Horstman is skilled in many therapeutic methods including CBT, Crisis Intervention, stress management, hypnosis, EMDR Informed Therapy and has a sub-specialty in Law Enforcement Psychology. Dr. Horstman grew up in Oklahoma and Texas and has lived and worked across the country from Washington, D. C. to Seattle.
He is a veteran and a voracious reader (at least 2 books per week), a published photographer and loves exploring the great Pacific Northwest. He is currently writing a non-fiction book on law enforcement psychology and another on philosophy. He was a police combat pistol range marshal and a weekend ski instructor, but his passion is racing sailboats.
