Life is messy and rarely plays out the way we plan. The ups and downs can leave us feeling worn and ragged. I have spent my career working with people from all walks of life. I believe each individual deserves time and space to heal so they can live their best life.

I want to help people feel better. You don't have to have extreme TRAUMA to need trauma work. You don't have to be suicidal to know that depression is a part of your life. You don't have to experience a panic attack to be having problems with anxiety. We all experience different levels of these problems in our lives and my goal is to work through these concerns and make a stronger person through a therapeutic relationship.

Hello. I work with late teens, young adults and adults as they meet the challenge of difficult emotions such as: sadness, anxiety, loneliness, frustration, anger, fear, disappointment, grief. Navigating what a full life has to offer can be complicated and at times surprising; relationship problems, school issues, parenting concerns, family conflict, multicultural issues can leave us feeling uncertain and alone. Life transitions can bring their own unique challenges: marriage/partnering, pregnancy, childbirth, medical and/or mental health diagnoses, divorce, blending family, death and dying each can challenge our usual coping skills.

My other areas of focus include postpartum depression and anxiety, women’s issues, depression, anxiety, parenting, trauma, and abuse and neglect.
To be able to enter into a season of recovery, one must take the step to enter into a season of vulnerability. Starting where you are and taking the first step can be difficult, though seeking help is a great place to start. I am passionate about self-advocacy and providing a safe space for you. I will tailor treatment to fit your unique needs and situation, while we work together to process through your concerns and harness your strength and resiliency.

Are you working with a little anxiety (or really maybe alot actually) or depression? What about a mood disorder? Encountered trauma? Are you in the perinatal period, a new parent and are looking to feel empowered from the feeling of postpartum anxiety, or depression or birth trauma? As a therapist I can always appreciate the vulnerability that a person can have when seeking out therapy, so it is my goal to make you feel at ease when you show up to work on any or all of these things at your pace.

Welcome! My specialty is working with women during pregnancy and post partum but I work with a variety of womens' issues. I find that many of my clients are trying so hard, juggling multiple roles and feeling guilty for not meeting their self expectations. Clients often come to therapy because they are exhausted and want to feel better for themselves and their families. My goal is to provide a safe space to slow down, reflect and look at the core beliefs driving behaviors. I tend to use self compassion with my clients to help create opportunities for meaningful interactions with themselves and others in their everyday activities.

I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2011 and have extensive experience treating individuals with chronic health conditions, infertility and perinatal loss, perinatal mood disorders, pelvic pain, depression, anxiety, conflict in relationships, life and career transitions, healthcare clinicians, and corporate leaders.
First of all - I am so glad you are here. Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable and uncomfortable, but it's when we lean into those places of discomfort that growth can be found. I am inspired by IFS, mindfulness, CBT, self-compassion, and the work around shame and vulnerability and infuse each modality into my therapeutic work. I also value integrating the coaching philosophy into my therapeutic approach and I ultimately believe in the power of supporting each individual as a whole, unique person to create space for healing and overall well-being.

I am counselor trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, perinatal mental health, infant mental health, and grief & loss.
We were never meant to do life alone... and when we find ourselves in a place of feeling alone, it can be incredibly painful. My practice is informed by the belief that the greatest healing happens in the context of relationships- and that in order to experience true comfort and healing, we have to compassionately connect with the very things that are bringing us discomfort. When engaging in our therapy space, we (both me and those I serve) show up as our imperfect and vulnerable selves- knowing that we are worthy of connection, worthy of belonging, and worthy of the courageous work that we engage in together.

Come as you are. I have many years of experience working with people and have seen people travel from brokenness to restoration. This isn't the end of your story. It takes an incredible amount of courage to face things in life but you don't have to be alone. I know that it can be scary to walk into a therapy room and share things that require great vulnerability. Lack of self-love. Infertility. Pregnancy Loss. Postpartum Depression. Guilt/Shame. Life Transitions. Identity. Marriage and Family Issues. Whatever you're facing, I would love to help you find healing.

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?

In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
