Children and youth sometimes have much more difficulty expressing their feelings in an appropriate way in than adults. It is difficult to watch your child suffer with anxiety, depression, stress, or any variety of situations that impact daily living. Children and youth may not have learned how to express emotions due to varying reasons. The goal is to improve coping skills, confidence, and the ability for all children and adolescents to navigate big emotions and difficult emotions in a healthy manner.

For over 30 years, I have worked with children, adolescents, college students, women, and parents focusing on mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment problems, parenting concerns, behavioral difficulties, and family and relationship issues.

Stacey is a Registered Play Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor with over 25 years of experience working with children through the use of Play Therapy. She wanted to offer her love for helping children gain the tools needed to learn how to process emotions, heal from trauma, and learn how to communicate their emotional needs to others in a healthy way. Play is a natural expression for children and the best way to meet their needs. Play is a safe way for children to tell their stories. She works with children beginning at age 3 through age 9.

My goal as a therapist is to help my clients find their own voice by providing a safe environment for them to be seen and heard. After graduating from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 1996, Kris began his career working with Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. He earned his Masters Degree in Counselor Education in 2001, and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2008. Since then Kris has worked in Inpatient Psychiatric and Outpatient Settings. He has received training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TFCBT) for children, the Gottman Method Level 2 for Couples Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

I have worked with children and families for over 40 years. My goal in life has been to make a difference in the life of a child, helping them to feel good about themselves and teaching them skills to cope with whatever circumstances have led to their emotional or behavioral problems. I also strongly believe in working closely with the parents of the children I work with, helping them to understand and accept what is happening with their child and providing them with support and skills to interact with their child in positive and productive ways. Making a commitment to therapy can result in children that are happy and successful.

I have worked with families facing behavior challenges, divorce, conflict, and adjustment to new life situations. More recently, I have worked with young adults in life transitions. I love working with individuals and families to better emotion regulation, expression, and interpersonal skills.
