I use an eclectic approach pulling techniques from theories including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I have worked in various settings helping clients with a range of problems including anxiety, depression, going through life transitions, bipolar and other mood disorders, ADHD, PTSD, narcissistic abuse, substance use disorders, grief and loss, and personality disorders, etc. I like to take a person centered, solution focused approach to help you through whatever you are struggling with. Sometimes we all could use a safe, unbiased place to process things or someone to help us see that there are other ways to look at things.

I also incorporate elements of positive psychology, including meaning, purpose, and values work, for long-term resilience.
I work with clients seeking to not only recover from substance abuse, but also thrive in life. Whether you're trying to be more mindful with your use, newly sober, or trying to strengthen or compliment your existing recovery program, I believe I can be of service to you. Mental wellbeing is like a garden - you can't simply remove the weeds and expect beauty to develop on it's own. You must learn how to both manage the weeds and tend to the flowers if you want a garden that'll provide lasting benefits. Together we can work through and beyond obstacles including co-occurring mental health issues, trauma, self-sabotage, and more.

Some of the most common modalities that I pull from are Person Centered, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and DBT.
One of the most important factors of success in therapy is your relationship with the counselor. It is a big reason why finding a counselor who is a "good fit" is an important decision. That important decision can seem paralyzing, but know that I am here to walk alongside you in any way that I can as you build the life that you want.

Something's been brewing for a while now, but there's always been more pressing *stuff* that needs your attention and plenty of distractions to keep you occupied. But lately those obligations and distractions aren't enough and you're stuck with those thoughts that won't go away, and that nagging feeling in your stomach that can no longer be ignored. You like to feel in control and capable--able to handle things on your own, but these are uncharted waters and there's no map in sight. What's more is that things that may never have been issues before are all of a sudden becoming problems you didn't know you had.

It has been said that a good therapist is much more gardener than mechanic. I love this statement because it captures something too often missed by counselors and clients alike: We are here not to "fix" you but to help you gently prune away the old parts of you that no longer serve. Feel the difference? Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I know that within you already is an innate capacity to heal and stretch upward if given light and a safe space to grow. So beyond giving you tools for change, my job, really, is to awaken the part of you that already knows how.

I believe in the importance of accepting and loving yourself and reframing negative self-talk and core-beliefs. I prioritize diving deeper into the root causes of these negative core-beliefs and working to heal their source, instead of taking a band-aid approach to remedying symptoms. I feel particularly called to work with men seeking help from the pressures of societal and/or familial and cultural norms and often work with issues including trauma recovery, military-related issues, intimacy disorders & sex and love addiction, substance abuse disorders, anxiety and depression, and self-medicating tendencies.

“The hardest part about the gym, is getting there.” And you have done that! I am excited that you have taken the first step to overcome your emotional challenges and life stressors. Making the choice to begin therapy is not always an easy one. My goal is to help you feel more comfortable about that decision. Sometimes you just need someone to assist you with life changes, challenges, and handling the stress of it all.

Currently offering telehealth therapy only! We spend a lot of time identifying things that are 'wrong' with us, but what about the things that you are really kicking ass at? I want to help clients identify strengths and cultivate them so that when life is feeling really hard, you can easily call up your superpowers. I aim to bring authentic, trusting and supportive energy to everyone I encounter and foster that within others. I believe healing happens when we find balance and step outside of black and white thinking.

My preferred clients are children, individuals, and couples. With children, I focus primarily on adjustment and trauma-related issues. I utilize many different methodologies to target specific areas of interest and then rebuild their self-image. In individual therapy, I consider it an honor to walk with you as you explore your inner-most drives and motivations. I see us as a team, and I am not successful until you are. Lastly, as your couples therapist, I am dedicated to securing your relationship. I plan to stick together with you two as you put an end to harmful communication patterns and return to a place of love.

We are meant to live in relational wholeness. The therapist-client relationship is based on trust. In a warm and welcoming environment – free of judgement – you will have the opportunity to be fully seen and heard, safe to share your struggles. This is an invitation to simply show up and sit amidst kindness and gentleness, to uncover, identify, and process what lies beneath the heart’s pain.

Offering sessions in Art Therapy to support chronic illness, grief and loss, and burnout. Throughout our lives, loss can show up in many forms: the loss of a job, the loss of a relationship, the loss of health, the loss of fertility, and of course the loss of life. All of these experiences can have the same intense effects as the death of a loved one. They can leave us feeling shattered, lost, and alone. Our modern-day way of life does not provide us with the rituals or guides we need to properly care for ourselves, find relief and support, and effectively grieve these losses when they occur. I understand, and I’m here to help.

Positive Psychology Therapists

How does positive psychology therapy work?

Positive psychology therapy derives from the work of Martin Seligman of the University of Pennsylvania. He and others developed the field of positive psychology building on humanistic theory. Positive psychology therapy is similar to acceptance and commitment therapy, and it essentially quiets emotional distress through positivity, contentment, and well-being. This therapy does not reduce the individual to symptoms and conditions.

When do I know if I need treatment using positive psychology?

If an individual is overwhelmed by emotional distress and general negativity, they may feel trapped. A positive psychology therapist can help them view their emotions and behaviors differently, and approach life with a better understanding of their positive strengths. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from positive psychology therapy?

The patient may be asked to explore their signature strengths. The therapist will also ask the individual to talk about their goals, which should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. Discussing negative experiences and symptoms is important, but so is the exploration of positive experiences. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more positive and fulfilling way. This therapy is proactive and may use forgiveness, gratitude, hope, and compassion to help reframe negativity.

Is positive psychology effective in therapy?

Positive psychology therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with eating disorders benefit from this type of intervention. This therapy encourages the person to reframe their distressed thoughts and move into healthier patterns of functioning. This therapy also aims to move an individual toward what works well in their life. Positive psychology therapy can elicit lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
