As an eclectic counselor, I utilize multiple evidence-based counseling theories such as CBT, REBT, Solution-Focused, Person-Centered, Positive Psychology and Psychodynamic.
Numerous factors influenced my decision to pursue counseling, with the primary motivation being my desire to assist individuals in improving their quality of life. At the core of my approach as a clinician is a firm conviction in the importance of fostering a secure and trusting therapeutic connection. It's vital for me, as your counselor, to ensure a safe environment where clients (such as yourself!) can receive support characterized by sincerity and empathy. In collaboration, we will aim for positive changes in your life, harness your strengths, achieve your therapeutic objectives, and alleviate your discomfort.

Counseling shouldn't be a chore. I work hard to offer a flexible and empowering space for clients to take control of their lives and make the changes they want to see. Therapy is for you and just starting the process takes a lot of work so utilizing a strength based, empowering and positive psychology approach is how I make a very person centered practice. It's hard to find a therapist that is a good fit but together we will work on achieving the life and goals that help you live the life you want and desire.

I’m well versed in Positive Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Motivational Interviewing.

The stress piles up and prevents us from feeling joy and well-being. I know firsthand how hard dealing with these issues can be. Together we can overcome the struggles and help you find relief.

With a background in performance, positive psychology, and higher education, I am here to help teens and adults tap into their creativity, problem-solve, and find greater happiness, all from the comforts of telehealth.
When you feel stressed and anxious, life isn't as enjoyable anymore. Your to-do list piles up, and you don't know where to start. Your dating and social life may be dwindling, while self-care seems impossible to reach. You may get frequent aches and pains as the tension in your mind translates to your body. Ruminations are running the show, keeping you playing out old, unhelpful patterns. You might be a high-achieving, perfectionistic doer, but you don't know what you're doing it all for anymore.

I utilize an integrative approach, in which I weave aspects from various therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic theory, CBT, DBT, interpersonal psychotherapy, mindfulness, and positive psychology, in a way that fits you and your individual needs and goals.
Therapy begins with a curiosity. Perhaps you want to understand why you are feeling the way you do, you feel stuck in a particular pattern or set of circumstances, or you are experiencing a pull to deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships with others. There are certain universal threads we all share - our desire and need to connect with others, a call to create, our desire to discover a sense of purpose and make our unique mark, and our desire to find joy and presence. I am here to guide you in finding meaning and fulfilment where you seek it.

Positive Psychology Therapists

How does positive psychology therapy work?

Positive psychology therapy derives from the work of Martin Seligman of the University of Pennsylvania. He and others developed the field of positive psychology building on humanistic theory. Positive psychology therapy is similar to acceptance and commitment therapy, and it essentially quiets emotional distress through positivity, contentment, and well-being. This therapy does not reduce the individual to symptoms and conditions.

When do I know if I need treatment using positive psychology?

If an individual is overwhelmed by emotional distress and general negativity, they may feel trapped. A positive psychology therapist can help them view their emotions and behaviors differently, and approach life with a better understanding of their positive strengths. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from positive psychology therapy?

The patient may be asked to explore their signature strengths. The therapist will also ask the individual to talk about their goals, which should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. Discussing negative experiences and symptoms is important, but so is the exploration of positive experiences. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more positive and fulfilling way. This therapy is proactive and may use forgiveness, gratitude, hope, and compassion to help reframe negativity.

Is positive psychology effective in therapy?

Positive psychology therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with eating disorders benefit from this type of intervention. This therapy encourages the person to reframe their distressed thoughts and move into healthier patterns of functioning. This therapy also aims to move an individual toward what works well in their life. Positive psychology therapy can elicit lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
