I am a licensed clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic candidate at Psychoanalytic Association of NY (affiliated with NYU Medical School). I have over 25 years of experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, and couples. My approach is broadly psychodynamic/psychoanalytic. Engaging in psychotherapy requires bravery. Talking about yourself to a stranger and facing your issues can feel daunting. Yet, psychotherapy can be exciting and illuminating as it leads you to discover more about yourself, such as why you keep doing the same thing over and over and what is holding you back from living more fully and freely.
People start therapy because they are troubled with some aspect of their lives. This may be about their life path, career, or relationships. When troubled by these or other issues, you may experience negative emotions (e.g., depression and anxiety), thoughts (e.g., “I am worthless), and self-harming actions (e.g., overeating). Therapy helps fix these issues.
My intention is to be your partner and support your process of discovery and healing, to meet you where you are, and to work with you in a nonjudgmental way so that you may find your way through the complexities of your life. The overarching goal of treatment is to help you move toward a more self-directed, open, satisfying, and meaningful way of life.
