The people who I work with often come to therapy after a change in their life has led them to question how they can overcome difficult situations and understand their decisions in order to live a more meaningful life and improve their relationships to self and others. Transitions such as starting college, having a child, losing a loved one, or ending a relationship are often events that cause a shift in understanding of ourselves and our worlds. Expectations about how life should be may not fit our reality, or old patterns or ways of coping that may have previously been effective become problematic.
I work with individuals in weekly therapy, and my style is supportive and collaborative. After obtaining a detailed understanding of your history, we work together to develop insight into the patterns you bring to your understanding of the world and your relationships.
My goal in treatment is to help you gain insight into your life in order to make positive changes and live your life to its fullest. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. I am an LGBTQ-affirmative therapist, my perspective is strength based and antiracist.
