Philip Prewette, MA, LMFT, Marriage & Family Therapist in Salem
I believe that everyone has the potential to change. We are created for relationship, and it is within this context, as well as how we view ourselves and others, that can help us better understand what areas need to be addressed so change can occur. I consistently employ a variety of methods when counseling with specific use of family systems, cognitive-behavioral, object-relations, and solution-focused therapeutic modalities. I have worked with a variety of ages and populations over the years ranging from children and adolescents to individual adults and couples, and enjoy working with a diverse population with a variety of presenting problems.
My experience includes: adolescents; parents; couples; psychiatric residential settings; outpatient settings. Areas of experience: depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, pre-marital, communication/conflict resolution, divorce recovery, pornography (and other addictions), life-stage transitions, grief and loss. I have presented training/seminars on parenting, marriage enrichment, communication, and men's issues.
I have received additional training in the SYMBIS as well as the PREPARE/Enrich pre-martial assessment, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
