I often find myself pondering the question, "Who is helping you?"
Counselors, clergy, teachers, and leaders are people whose work is fundamentally about the wellbeing of others and that very question tends to be avoided. Not because helpers are more broken than anyone else, but because they are the most practiced at deflecting the kind of care they give away freely.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I work primarily with adults and older teens, individually and in groups, and I specialize in the particular exhaustion that comes from giving more than you take in.
My primary approach is Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS operates from the idea that every part of you, even the ones we hate, has a reason for being there. That part of you that leads, teaches, and shows up for others is valuable. So are the parts that are tired, uncertain, or wondering what you actually want.
You don't need to be in crisis to reach out. You just need to be ready to let someone ask you the questions. My goal is for your experience to feel like you can take off the heavy load, rest for a little while, and have a chance for someone to hear your story.
