Talking about a burden someone has been carrying around is a good reason to seek out a therapist. The therapist has to be someone you feel comfortable opening up to and sharing whatever you experience as a burden. Without that relationship of trust it's difficult to move forward. That open-minded approach with a properly broad notion of what it means to be "normal" is at the heart of my practice as a therapist. I work with clients to discover what is leaving them feeling stuck so that they can move forward and find happiness.
I have many years of experience counseling people informally. More recently I’ve been working in private practice, at an agency in Vermont, and as an inpatient group therapist counseling people coping with issues like trauma, and the depression, anxiety, and substance abuse issues that often result.
I look forward to hearing from you to see if we would be a good match for the therapy relationship. Coming to the first session does not commit anyone to working with a particular therapist. instead I look forward to exploring that potential relationship together.
