I think of my work with clients as helping to meet the ongoing challenges of life that we all experience. Problems with depression, anxiety, changing abilities, trauma, loss, self identity, or difficult relationships arise for all of us from time to time. Our challenge is to understand our experiences, develop the skills to manage them, and to visualize and move forward to live the most fulfilling life we can.
I work primarily with cognitive behavioral therapy principles, while including healthy infusions of psychodynamic understanding of your life experience and relationships, relaxation and self care, and communication and other life skills as appropriate. I work with adults and couples.
I believe that our relationship is the most important key to successful work, and that we are a team to help you achieve your goals. We develop your trust in a safe, supportive and helpful relationship when I share my relevant life experiences, too, which I do more than most therapists.
