Before Sarah’s career as a counselor in private practice and crisis centers, she spent 20 years as a paramedic, EMT (local/ internationally), volunteering, and a medical university faculty. I specialize in ACT & RO DBT for adults with emotional overcontrol. My clients often struggle with excessive worry, needing certainty and order, rigid thinking, insistence on rules or routines, perfectionism, avoidance, procrastination or excessive working. Clients tend to experience discomfort with social connections, are people pleasers or have low assertiveness, have low emotional awareness and restricted emotional expression. Overcontrol may include depression, anxiety, and personality disorders (Avoidant PD, Obsessive-Compulsive PD). Treatment focuses on building psychological flexibility, valued-living & healthy relationships.
