Life can be extremely difficult to navigate at times, especially when going through major life transitions. My mission over the last 26 years and in developing and opening Comprehensive Counseling Services, LLC is to be able to provide counseling in a way that will reach as many individuals in need. I became a Marriage and Family Therapist because I enjoy processing with individuals and listening to personal journeys to find a resolution. I was a High School performance art major and find this skill set benefical in providing supports through visual cues using various therapeutic approaches and modalities. I specialize in working with children and families in child welfare. I enjoy working with young children and teens as these are challenging developmental years, trauma and distress from systemic and familial patterns of behaviors, coupled with low parenting, coping, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

With over 20 years experience as a clinician, I enjoy working with a variety of concerns. I have expertise in the areas of family and marriage, relationships, depression, PTSD, stress management, grief and trauma as well as individual and couple issues. I am a certified Traumatologist and a certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. I traveled to New York City to assist families impacted by the 9/11 attacks and have assisted in local and regional tragedies. I have extensive experience with mood disorders, trauma and addictions and work with all ages. I am trained in EMDR and use that technique with both children and adults if appropriate. My clients often state when they first spoke to me they felt immediately at ease and did not feel judged. I am able to assist my clients in seeing patterns in their life story and work to identify and change core beliefs such as "I'm not good enough", "I'm defective" or "I cannot trust others."

My experience of almost 20 years within the Mental Health field enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualized, mental health care. I counsel individuals with a number of mental health disorders, and provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples.

During my time in practice I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of cases including individuals, couples, families, and groups. I believe the process of therapy can be helpful for anyone and I have had experience within numerous settings making my therapy style flexible for whatever my clients needs. Some of my most rewarding cases have been individuals with disordered eating behaviors, self harm, and/or suicidal ideation. I believe no case is too difficult as long as both my client and myself put in the work to create positive change!

I believe that people are resilient as I witness it every day. However, life can be challenging. Whether the challenge is a situational stressor, unexpected event, a transition, life experience, personal history, relationships, or our own internal struggle, these challenges can impact our lives and functioning in unexpected ways that even the most resilient person can have difficulties coping with or processing. Therapy can be helpful in addressing life's difficulties and making our emotional pain transformative. I also believe that for therapy to be helpful, the client's emotional safety and fit between the client and therapist are critical.

My practice is a psycho-spiritual one and reflects my passion: helping families flourish by creating happy, well-balanaced marriages, families, children, and adolescents. This includes blended families who have suffered loss or divorce. Having worked closely with courts for many years, I also provide forensic evaluations regarding custody and visitation issues, mediation, and post divorce management of child issues.

My experiences in this beautiful field setting have provided me with success in helping people to identify and change their way of thinking and beliefs.
