Are you seeking non-judgmental, engaged and collaborative, solution-focused help? As a gender-conscious, cis male psychotherapist specializing in couples and individual therapy, I use both systemic and psychodynamic thinking to help a patient or couple understand their position(s), roles, and relationships, past and present. I honor self-determination and facilitate self-awareness, so that each person I work with can gain clarity, perspective, and relief.
My postgraduate training includes psychoanalytic techniques, Gottman, EFT, Imago, money management, and studies in sexualities and gender. I work with depression, gender nonconformity/gender creative/genderqueer, sexual abuse/trauma, conflicts in family and work, issues around infidelity and sex life, parenting, artistic challenges, and substance misuse.
I teach at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies and write for Division Review and the International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. Native to New York, I live my life in diversity. As a former composer for film and theatre, I value verbal and non-verbal coping strategies and modes of communicating and healing.
