During difficult times, the word “unravel” resonates with most of us. My great passion is bringing healing to the people who have been through traumatic/stressful experiences and struggling to anchor, reflect and or reset. Working with couples and men is awesome. My clients always surprise me with their intelligence and strength, even if muted by their immediate troubles. Focusing on the connection the couple does have, we can work on the skills to being our own individual within the relationship. Working with men often involves negotiating the contradictions the world presents, attending to power differentials and how they impact our inner world, discovering where our habits developed and how we want to change and grow who we are in the world. I utilize a multitude of maps to offer my clients impactful and effective interventions.

My name is Shideh Sarmadi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Virginia. My goal as counselor is to empower client to mindfully change their lives in a positive manner by focusing on recovery and welfare and promote healthy personal growth. I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1998 and earned a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling, focused on Multicultural Counseling in 2002 in University of North Carolina at Charlotte. experienced in variety of mental health settings including outpatient, inpatient, emergency services and psychiatric research.

Relationships. We never really explicitly learn how to "do" this whole relationship thing, at least not in school. Are there rules for relationships? How about guidelines to help guide us? My unconditional passion for the Mental Health field is beyond measures. I have worked with a dynamic age range, but mostly specialize in the ages of 11-45 years of age. I provide services to clients that have struggled with behavioral issues, mental health issues, addictions, active psychosis, psychological disorders, genetic disorders, crisis stabilization purposes, substance abuse, and much more. My motto for all my clients is that I do not have a magic wand to ensure all issues will disappear in the blink of an eye, but I do have the patience, endurance, and heart to create change in any individual's life that I may encounter.
