I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor with special training and interest in areas of marriage and relationships, postpartum depression, separation and divorce, parent-child relations and women's issues. In my practice I strive to create a compassionate, respectful and trusting environment in which clients feel comfortable to explore their individual experiences. I conduct individual, couples, and family therapy, which includes practice with adults, adolescents, and children.

We, as human beings, are all on a path through life dealing with our own unique conflicts (be it interior or exterior) and struggles from our lives before this point. Everyday is a new chance to devote effort in ourselves with a goal to make ourselves better than the day before. We are all striving to be the absolute best version of ourselves we can be, even if your version looks different than the next person's. I work with a variety of people with struggles such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, addiction, relationships, and more. I primarily work from a psychodynamic perspective that seeks to understand individuals’ unconscious motivations and desires that contribute to our conscious life. I am comfortable discussing any issue that you might bring up and can aid in helping you achieve a healthier and more fulfilling life.

I enjoy working clients from diverse populations but I particularly enjoy working with individuals from hispanic backgrounds. Being hispanic in America is definitely a different experience and sometimes stressful and I help my clients navigate these things. Whether its interpersonal issues with family, friends, relationships, or work I give my clients the tools to navigate major life transitions. I also work with individuals that struggles with anxiety and depression.

Dr. Darla Absher is a a Licensed Professional Counselor, Supervisor LPC-S #62089, located in Austin and Bastrop, Texas. Dr. Absher treats the full spectrum of disorders and life adjustments. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward's University, in Austin, Texas in August 2005. In 2003, I received my Master of Arts in Human Services from St. Edward's. In 2001 I graduated from St. Edward's University with a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Psychology. In December 2011, I graduated from Argosy University in Dallas, Texas with a Doctor of Clinical Psychology.
