We all have periods of time in our lives where we experience struggle. The pain of feeling that we are unworthy of love and belonging and the constant comparison between ourselves and others can make daily life difficult. We all need someone who will listen, validate and be a part of our many emotions depending on what's happening in our lives. Licensed since 1993 and in private practice since 1999. Previous work-related experience includes working at a residential treatment center, youth shelter, juvenile detention center, chemical dependency unit, adolescent and adult in-patient hospital, Employee Assistance Program, crisis intervention, in-take assessments, and intensive out-patient programming. Over the past two decades, I have served individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. I am a certified and approved DOT Substance Abuse Professional.

As a psychotherapist, my role is to help facilitate and support you, the client, in discovering, processing, and most importantly, deciding if changing some strategies you have needed to implement in negotiating your life is a next step in your treatment. It can take time to identify influencing factors in the problems experienced in life. Through the development of a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, we will identify issues, if not already clear to you, and take action in the therapeutic relationship itself to develop the relational, emotional, and or behavioral skills you determine need to be the focus of your treatment.

Working with couples and post-menopausal women and their individual struggles in their transitions is also something I enjoy. I believe therapy should be client-centered, goal oriented and short term in nature.

I work with older teens and adults, and also specialize in women's issues across the lifespan, as well as those with health concerns. College students are a special interest, as are educators, as I’ve worked as a teacher and school counselor and understand the stress and dynamics associated with the profession.

Some reasons individuals commonly seek therapy with me are relationship issues, work stress/burnout, difficulties balancing work and parenting, loneliness, lack of fulfillment, alcohol abuse, mood issues, and anxiety. Together we will identify clear goals, and implement skills and practical steps to help you move forward. My practice is structured for extra privacy and flexibility with treatment.

Relationships are difficult! Taking care of a partnership is not something we are taught how to do, and many of us didn’t have good models of this growing up. You and your partner are stuck in unhealthy patterns that you feel are related to your troubled past. Intimacy starts with a secure connection. When you feel safe in a relationship, you can disagree and be authentic. You can grow as individuals, without threatening the relationship.
