We often become our own worst critic especially at a time when we need encouragement, guidance and perspective the most. Since 2011 when I began working in mental health my primary mission has been to challenge the negative self-talk, that only keeps us in a downward depressed cycle. My approach is rooted in person-centered therapy along with cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, experiential therapy and EMDR depending on the client’s needs.

I am a clinician with 25 years of experience providing an array of mental health services. I have a background working for large healthcare systems where I provided direct client care, managed teams, trained clinicians in emergency rooms, medical settings, and behavioral health clinics giving me a unique perspective on how to support a wide variety of symptoms. I hope that over time, we can foster a therapeutic relationship that will allow for growth and change in your life and your relationships. I am happy to offer a Christian perspective to clients who prefer to integrate their faith into their therapeutic journey. My passion is to help the people who have spent their lives helping others. I recently retired after 27 years in the fire service and believe this experience makes me uniquely equipped to help first responders. My practice is trauma based and I offer EMDR to help deal with the trauma in the lives of my clients. While I hope to work with many first responders this is not the only focus of my service. I have nearly 10 years experience in treating addictions. My practice is open to individual, couple, and group therapy.

The step you are taking is one of the most difficult and frightening, and it requires great courage to take it. I know, I've been there myself. But, because of that, I also know what awaits on the other side, as well as what it takes to get there. What I am offering is to accompany you within those dark, frightening, painful areas of life we so often get lost in. At a pace of your choosing, we will explore and shine light in those areas so they become less frightening. Then, we will work to find a way out of that darkness and will go through, around, or over any barriers hindering your success. ​

My greatest pleasure is meeting people where they are and being curious about where they might be going. I don’t believe that I can take anyone to a place I haven’t been myself so I have remained committed to broadening and unburdening my own heart in my personal journey. My personal suffering transmuted by an abundance of grace has been my greatest teacher, so long as I haven’t had to suffer alone. I really enjoy seeing people be successful. I have a PhD in educational psychology, a MA in professional counseling, and a BS in psychology. We live in chaotic and confusing world which can make it difficult to find the beauty and peace. It's not easy making sense of the world around us or our internal world. I typically work with issues concerning life transitions, addiction, couples conflict, and Family of Origin. I also love working with clients looking to detransition/desist. I have significant experience working with complex cases. Each client brings their individual stories into the room. By the time we seek help, life has typically not been going as we expected. We want to find a way out, but are unsure how to do so. What we need is someone to help us be a guide through to recovery. This is a life-long change that will need continued support. Not only is this our battle, but the battle of those around us.
