My goal is to provide you with a safe environment that will give you the opportunity to heal. I am committed to helping you navigate through life’s trials, challenges, and find resolution by treating the whole person; mind, body, and spirit.

It takes courage and strength to take an inventory of your mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational health. For some, just taking that first step can be the hardest part and it may feel quite overwhelming. For others, it may be difficult to get back into the rhythm of caring for your overall well-being. Wherever you find yourself on this journey towards living a healthier, more meaningful life, I want to meet you where you are at. Life can throw a lot of curveballs and it doesn’t hurt to have someone come alongside you to help you learn the skills to navigate them.

All of us are born inherently valuable and that never changes. Unfortunately, things like depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD and addiction may have us questioning that truth. We often become our own worst critic especially at a time when we need encouragement, guidance and perspective the most. Since 2011 when I began working in mental health my primary mission has been to challenge the negative self-talk, that only keeps us in a downward depressed cycle. My approach is rooted in person-centered therapy along with cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, experiential therapy and EMDR depending on the client’s needs.

I have a passion to help those who are hurting; knowing and believing people can learn to understand dynamics and become equipped with the tools needed to move forward. I believe every person entering my office is unique, and my approach is to know and understand the person I am working with. My first and foremost goal for therapy is to provide an atmosphere for the individual to feel comfortable enough to be open, honest and vulnerable; to not feel judged, but listened to. The goal for each session is the person feels they have been heard, appropriate techniques provided, and ideas processed.

My desire is to create and nurture an environment where my clients learn to trust themselves and their abilities to navigate successfully through life. Within my practice, I am determined to be a source of unconditional, nonjudgmental support that both empowers and respects each and every client.

A large part of my practice centers around working with families and helping parents of children who may be having behavior problems at home or at school and working with the children and adolescents themselves. I incorporate child-centered play therapy with young children as well as Adlerian and behavioral concepts with parents. I am a licensed psychologist with Health Service Provider in Psychology credential, a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, and a retired MTSU professor after teaching in the Professional Counseling Program for 25+ years. In addition to helping families, I also work extensively with couples and individuals who may be experiencing a variety of problematic daily living situations.

At some point in time, every person experiences an impasse or issue in his or her life, and might need to regain some perspective or obtain support to help improve the situation. As a counselor, I am here to provide a safe and supportive environment in which to work on life's issues, problems, or roadblocks. I work with and assist children, adolescents, and adults aged 11 years and up experiencing any number of issues such as, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, adjustment problems, financial health disorders, life stage changes, grief, parenting issues, relationship difficulties, work/career problems, and health concerns.

My ideal client would have a healthy dose of honestness, openness, and willingness. I don't expect for my clients to have specific goals or outcomes in the beginning, but an awareness that they want something to be different. Some of the issues I've worked with extensively over the years have been related to recovery from addiction, helping loved one's of an addict, co-dependency, trauma, and navigating an individual's emotions and how to understand and express them in a healthier way. It's about breaking away from insanity and moving toward serenity.

Greetings- Working with families and individuals for over 20 years, It’s a honor to work with clients as well as meet them where they are in their personal journey.
